<p>Just a question, not a rant. What is the purpose of having a server, up, but locked?</p><p>Right now, looking at the server list, I see this.</p><p>So why have a server listed as locked? Everfrost (is locked.) Befallen Permafrost Mistmoore Oasis Venekor PVP (is locked.) Antonia Bayle (is locked.) Nagafen PVP (is locked.) Vox PVP (is locked.)</p>

Vox PVP (is locked.)</p></blockquote>With a server that is "Down" it means they are taken out of circulation with updates being performed. A "Locked" server means it is up but no one can access it. This is usually done so developers can perform tests to see if the server accepted the update and if it is stable. Atleast that's my 2c from what I get with Locked vs Down. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Its also a good way to tell if the servers are about to pop online soon. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I always imagine the GM's running their toons nekkid through the empty streets and giggling like little hcildren while server's were locked...for no reason...just because they can....

Atleast that's my 2c from what I get with Locked vs Down. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </blockquote>Just to add to this as well, when a server is "Down" you can't do anything (meaning don't bother opening the Launch Pad); When a server is "Locked" you can open the Launch Pad, get the game updates/downloads for the day and go to the "Character Select" screen - "Locked" does usually indicate that the servers will be going active shortly (not always though).
