I was wondering, is it legal to do the following?

you see a group of people killing a named. so your a coecer and you charm one of the adds. the chest wont drop becuase the add is your pet and isnt dead. so when they leave you kill the pet and the chest drops and its yours.

they can lock encounters to prevent that, so i would say no its not agains the actual rules (but i dont think i've ever read the entire ruleset before :p )

ic, i was in stormhold the other day on my coercer and a group stold androus off us when we were about to attack. so i grabed the add. i didnt even realise what i had done until everyone started laughing and told me. and then the other group start giving us hate tells. so i ended up uncharming and letting them get there chest.

It may not be actually classed as illegal, however, if you ask them to kindly let you have your mob back (since it was part of the encounter that you had engaged) and they refuse outright, then it may well be classed as disruption and you could probably petition.

Its certainly very rude if nothing else.

It can get you into trouble if you abuse it but sometimes it is nice to be able to turn the tables on rude people. Still .. if you dont want people "helping" .. use the encouter lock .. it is a simple checkbox and this will never happen again.
That actually falls under the bad rules of MMOing in how not to make friends. You do it twice in a row ya it'll be illegal cause players will most likely report it as Harrassement.

Not sure how a GM would respond to that... well, they would probably tell you to knock it off, but not sure if it's technically against any rules or not. What I do know is that it will [Removed for Content] people off. Also, I was in Fallen Gate a while ago and there was another player down there by Quiora at the bottom of the dungeon by Vaults. He was also boxing a 50sumthing guardian. He saw my group clearing the room getting ready to pull Quiora so, he has his guardian pull it and lock the encounter. Now, he just sits on the mob waiting for us to go away so he can run it off and let it reset, then pull it on his 20sumthign scout and have his guardian kill it and collect the guarenteed fabled loot.

Well we stood there for about an hour while this [Removed for Content] had the encounter locked on his guardian and all of us petitioned and were just waiting around for the petition to be resolved. Was also sending tells to his guild leader, but the guild leader didn't care. So, about an hour into this, a GM pops in the room, stands there for a minute and then disappears. We wait around another 5min or so and finally give up and zone into Vaults and do the instance. When we came back out, both those characters were gone and Quiora was still up and we killed her. Never saw that guy or his guardian again.

Doing something like that repeatedly or with the obvious intent of preventing another group from completing an encounter would be considered harassment or zone disruption.

rofl on my necro (on pvp) I could go into the dead infested Stormhold, when GRAY Qs where attacking a group, I would chram, and it would count as hitting me, so it was free faction for lowbies...I sold my necro and heard they nerfed, but I could also charm the skeletons in TS, break charm and FD and take care of the pesky lvl 5/70 Tradeskillers who take all the nodes that rightfully belong to me!

Violating the be nice rules will get you banned, just as easily as violating the "real rules".
