View Full Version : Melee Warden..Solo?
Well, I had decided to play a mystic---then they screwed mystics over in the AA changes...Or atleast what I wanted from them (beastlord style class, pet with good dps+melee dps...) So, now I'm falling back to the druidic things, and would like to ask a few questions of the community. First: Is the overpopulation of wardens/furies as bad as it seems? Are there more of them than the more popular tank/scout classes? or are they simply most popular healers? Second, and onto the meat of the most, which solos named better, assuming equal gea ring/spell levels/skill, Furies or Wardens? This is a big point to me. second.1, Is the warden capable of soloing the same mobs that a mystic would have been? and, finally, a minor point: I will be likely duoing with my sister's inquisitor a lot. Is the warden a good compliment to the inquisitor? Is a fury better? Thank you for your time. (Please excuse the bad typing, doing this at work on the overnight shift, so ahve to be quick and sneaky about it.)

Ask on almost any server, and people are always looking for healers (of any kind). As with any class, many people try it to lower levels, then stop playing it. Their alts may still be on the books adding to the amount on any server. Are you talking PvP servers? There Wardens are kind of the FoTM..only a few of us rolled one Day 1 (everyone rolled a Fury that rolled a druid, from what I could see at the time). The excellent utility that Druids have make them nice for PvP. Warden roots are invaluable in many PvP scenarios, as are fast heals and good power managing abilities. </p><p>Second: Wardens and Furies solo equally well, IMO - just maybe go about it a different way. I have a 70 Defiler, not a Mystic, but I don't even see a comparison there as far as easier soloability is concerned. Shaman is not a Beastlord by any stretch of my imagination - AA crits and abilities notwithstanding (nerfed or un...). Shaman's strengths are Wards and Debuffs. (Speaking for Defiler, I suppose - never played a mystic past 25). I can kill 5 mobs to 1 ..Warden vs. Defiler solo. I'd be VERY interested in hearing from any Shaman that has a different experience, pwns solo and loves their DPS. </p><p>As for your Minor Point - I'd think it would depend on how your sister's Inquis is AA spec'd as to ease of the duo. If she's spec'd to mostly Heal - Warden can tank nicely in that duo. If spec'd to DPS...Warden supports that beautifully. On the other hand, I'm a believer in: Any duo is possible, and can even be fun, just some are easier than others. Cleric/Druid doesn't have the most DPS that you can get in a duo (unless the Inquis is Battle Cleric spec'd then it can be impressive), but if you like the person you are playing with it doesn't really matter - you will make it work, IMO.</p><p>I have 70 Warden/70 Defiler on Venekor - 70 Warden/70 Templar on Antonia Bayle (the Templar was an Inquis from 62 to 70 then betrayed back). I'd be interested in hearing the thoughts of those that have both Warden and Fury on these questions. </p><p>The tie breaker for Druid vs. Shaman as far as my favorite healing type is the solo/duo component. If I knew I'd have a group most of the time, I'd stick with the Mystic. As far as which druid - it would depend on what you wanted out of your game time. Both are really nice classes. </p><p>Of course, we are partial here <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Good luck with whatever you choose though!</p>
Well, with melee spec mystic+certain Shaman AAs (pet dps proc, etc..) you could acheive the feel of a beastlord with a high dps paper pet. I liked the feeling, but to remove that from the equation. I'm unclear as to the comparison in solo: I'm looking mostly for named mobs (going through nest, poet's palace, archadium or however you spell it, MM catacombs)..Was curious if a warden is capable of doing that to the same extent a shaman, and or inquisitor, was. ...And if a fury was better tahn the warden at it? I enjoy both kiting (root nuking, snare tailing, etc..) and melee, so either's playstyle is a toss up. heh. Also, why would you stick with mystic, if given a group all of the time? (I won't have one, solo til 50ish, then solo/duo most of the time til high end, and then grouping high end instances, so I want to be able to heal those instances)

<p>Of the healer types, I like Warden the best. Defiler is a very fun class to play, though. In a small group or solo, I'd pick Warden every time. </p><p>If I knew I was always going to have a 6 person group (which was the case when leveling my Defiler) I would do that with the Defiler - simply because some of the things Defiler can do are so cool <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> The poor dog, even when spec'd to blow up and do 200% damage (or whatever it is) still isn't very tough - so the Beastlord thing really IS on paper, not the 'reality' (if you can call virtual code 'reality'<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Test have shown the dog has 800 hp at level 70. Given that my defiler is on a pvp server...the dog isn't very helpful (IMO..others have said the dog isn't hardly noticed. That's not my experience.)</p><p>As for pure utility as originally created - Wardens still (IMO) are one of the more versatile healing classes. With the addition of the melee AA's I think this assessment is even more so.</p><p>As to the Named mobs in the places you mentioned (and you spell it Acadechism..lol), solo healing, I do better with Warden than either Inquis (now Templar..was Inquis leveling in those places) or Defiler. Again..my experience only. Others may tell you differently.</p><p>So that's what I meant about choosing the Shaman class over Warden. Warden is my absolute favorite. I have 2!! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> (This doesn't, btw, beat Spag or Ryala...who both have like 57 Wardens...)</p>

the inquisitor is more likely to be the one tanking imo if you duo with one...against heroics I'd take the mitigation, plus I think inquisitor can out dps a warden in melee combat...plus they can use enhanced fanatacism and forget about healing completely but up both of your dps by a decent amount.
