Just a thought - but currently most players have little use for other player's housing (besides avoiding broker commissions and looking at interior design ideas). I liked the interactive food items that were implemented during Frostfell 2006 - it's nice to sample a friend's cake or eggnog while visiting and getting a temporary food bonus. More items like this would be a refreshing change and would add to RP opportunities and give us all a reason to "visit" one another in-game.

In addition, and more importantly, I think it would be a great idea to implement some sorty of mini-game that could be activated and played only in a player's home (i.e. a mulitplayer card game, interactive chess tables, "wizard's mazes", solo player "gems/tetris"-type game with an EQ2 spin, etc.). These items could be crafted or quested and have various versions to keep things fresh - but just having them in game at all would add a new level to gameplay. At the very least, guild meetings would not be as boring. Could also allow players to "level-up" in certain mini-games to gain access to higher levels and/or more interesting graphics.

In any event, please add your thoughts - I think this could potentially be a great addition to EQ2 and in theory should require minimal additions to the game depending on the types of mini-games added (then again I am not a programmer - so please don't flame me if this is off the mark - hehe).

All great ideas that would add more meaning to housing as well as tradeskillers. I think it would be hella fun to invite others over for a game of chess/checkers.

I could think of one or two things that could be fun to do in houses.

Maybe some sort of benefit could be added too, like lying in bed or camping while in your house poofes XP debt and/or regains vitality slighly faster than doing out of your house. (No idea for chair benefit yet, but you are creative people /wink). Display your sleeping body to your visitors if you camped in that house. Which would make having an innroom and using it more valuebale to players. Ingame chess or something similiar which we already have non-interactive tables for would be really nice while waiting for a raid to form or more guildies to come online (like the LoN house item card game or EQ's /gems and allow players to bid on win or something - ahhh there is the chair idea i was looking for, need to sit in chair to be able to start the game actually) . Just a few of my thoughts on that....

Censeo Darkwood - 80 Inquisitor/80 Carpenter/400 Tinkerer

The option for a ARENA has long been missing from eq 2 housing.. You enter the arena and you can fight your guild mates.. great fun for down time

before someone does't think and posts, no it's NOT like the current in game a duel option in that

1) you do not need to be prompted if you are in the arena you are attackable

2) it's not just one on one.. anyone can attack anyone in the arena so you can do group vs group or any combo...

I love the idea of being able to regain vitality or speed up the elimination of xp debt through player-crafted items in house.

When i logged back into EQ1 recently after a 4-year hiatus, the guild halls had the benefit whereby your buffs didn't expire while you are in your guildhall. So while EQ2 has the benefit of being able to create furniture, there is at least some practicality to the guild halls in EQ1.

Only problem to doing this, obviously is that it opens back up the debate over the deserted feeling of cities because everybody is locked up in their house or guild hall.

The chess and gaming ideas are great.. But why not create pubs throughout the city where players can interact with strangers in a game of chess, etc.
