View Full Version : Guide to PvP Avoidance (for the new player and "anti" alike)

So, you've decided to join a PvP server? Congratulations! Now it's time to get out there and get started hating, avoiding, and nerf-calling PvP at every opportunity. Disliking PvP is what all of the cool kids are doing, and you've always wanted to be a cool kid, now haven't you? Remember this-it's your $14 and you can avoid all of the PvP on a PvP server that you want-you go, boy! This guide has been written with you in mind, Mr. Anti, and you, Ms. Newbie; and in the paragraphs that follow I hope to show you how you can avoid PvP at all costs on your way up to the promised land of mythical wonder and guaranteed 'phat lewtz'; called Tier Seven. It won't be easy but you're determined, so put on your game face and let's get started. Levels 1-9: These levels are your friend. First and foremost, you can't roll a Fae of any kind. These races (good or evil) will land you smack dab in the middle of a live PvP zone right out of the gates. If this happens, you're going to face other players, and that's bad-right? So, roll anything without wings and make sure to select Freeport or Qeynos as your home city. This will allow you to level up the first 9 levels from the safety of the Island. Ding-level 9! Now it's time to head to your city and do your mentor quest. Great! Now you've got yourself a sweet necklace of some sort and are ready to follow your mentor's direction out to one of the newbie areas...this is the most risky part of the entire "Race to Tier Seven"--you have to spend the next five levels in an open zone. I am sorry, there is no other option. Ding-level 14! Congratulations! By now you've probably met some of the other team who have most likely killed you numerous times. If you've made it this far without quitting I commend you for being the greatest player to ever join the game! It's hard work getting killed, and makes for a discouraging time-sort of like when you got picked last for dodgeball on the playground yesterday. But now you're ready to say goodbye to PvP! Hip-hip, Horray!!! Now it's time to find a group of like-minded adventurers; people who, like you, hate PvP but want to play on a PvP server. Once you've found your group, it's time to head to your first instance!! Instances are great because you can go in them and the other team cannot get you; it is truly grand! Firemyst Gully! This zone is in Antonica in between Sir Jaeger's camp and Blackburrow. Don't worry, there's a trick to getting there while avoiding as much potential dirty, stinking PvP as possible-a little gem I call "Death Porting". Attack a guard, die, choose Jaeger's as your revive point. Get good at this because it will serve you well from this moment forward. From there you just have to make it to the instance. Once inside, this zone can take you all the way to level 20. Ding-level 20! Yay, you've done it-now pick your last name (it has to be something Legolas would be keen on, so think about it a lot!). You also have to wave /bye to Firemyst Gully (/mood sad); but don't despair, now you can go into Splitpaw! This instanced adventure pack can be done all the way up to level 50 and maybe level 55. Think about it, you can make it to level 50 while almost always avoiding those social deviants who like to PvP! I won't bore you with the information on Splitpaw-I can't give away all of my tricks, now can I? The best part about Splitpaw is this, once you level you can gate back to your city, sell loot, buy new gear and spells (don't get better then adept I's though, because monsters don't have a ton of hitpoints so who needs masters??), then use your Splitpaw shard and get back to the instancing. Ding-level 55! You've shown those twinks a thing or two now, haven't you? Just think, if you're lucky your only deaths took place from levels 10-14; isn't that sweet??? Next up is DoF. There are enough instances here that one can pick up a level or two, gate home and tradeskill the night away. It's super dreamy! It will take some time though, because as you've learned by now, some instances have a lockout timer. This is really bad, but hey-you're here on a PvP server not to PvP so what choice do you have? Ding-level 60! You've done it, the mythical lands of Tier Seven!! People are all very nice and you'll be highly sought after for excellent raids in all sorts of zones because everyone in Tier Seven is extremely happy to have you there! Yippie! A few tips at level 70, do not go anywhere alone. Sure, you're going to need to harvest, but make sure you always use the buddy system for harvesting and hopefully one of you can get an evac off in time. If all else fails, just use that master 1 skill of yours-death port and you should be fine. You can jump off a cliff at the first hint of danger and no one will be mad at you, I swear! Now you're ready to lay waste to the lands of Norrath, congratulations on doing so the "right" way. By avoiding PvP you are doing all that is good and wholesome in this world because people who kill other people are all going to hell.

Best PvP guide to date, imo! This is much better than what I thought was the only real way of avoiding PvP, which is not leaving your docks/home city! Thanks Awesome! xoxo

/hugz

I created this as a form of informative satire. My pal Splinter got the joke, but wanted to play with your emotions-he's tricky like that. It's informative and truthful in that it gives every single person who complains for a "twink nerf" a way out of PvPing all the way up to this "promised land" /laff that is T7. It also gives the idiots who take this seriously a way of quickly becoming easy fodder for every single person in T7 at the same time. I may have left the tier, but I still want to do all I can to help all of my friends in their quest for full PvP gear. To the people already in T7: please grief anyone who follows this guide until they quit the server so I can laugh at them "IRL" for at least seven hours straight.

You forgot the step in the guide where the abovementioned people cry about nerfing every class in the game that isn't there because they get ganked on the way to said instances, and the part where they pretend to pvp on the forums to get dev attention.

Actually your post is wrong. Sony always caters to the whiners who can't actually pvp. Everyone who can usually just ends up dealing with it

As I recall, you can get killed in splitpaw, in the lobby area's where you are forced to go when switching in between instances. Also, do you need a group to get from 20-55 in splitpaw? What about bloodline chronicles? I'm not sure if it has any instances but the zones within might be pretty empty, and good places to grind.

Bloodlines is too risky. You have to spend a decent amount of time in Nek running up the river to get there.

I am a new player from Dark Age of Camelot, a game that has zoned pvp not open world pvp. The pvp in this game can be mindless; twinks going around 1 shotting new players.. which would not be so bad if it was just one or two people.. I think its lame that you are makijng fun of new players for trying to actually run out without getting ganked every (clocked) 3 mins..

I understand that you are getting at people for avoiding pvp on a Pvp server, but people (should) join pvp servers for fair fights; not to get one shotted or go out one shotting for faction (or whatever WoW trait you <3 to get).. I am giving this game a chance; but honestly I would rather play a mindless FPS for a fair fight than run out and get one or two shotted by snobs that cant fight people that pose a challenge.

Safacon wrote:
I am a new player from Dark Age of Camelot, a game that has zoned pvp not open world pvp.
I pretty much stopped reading here. PVP in every other game pales in comparison to the PVP in DAoC. I left DAoC for two reasons; 1) it got ugly (as in, not visually appealing) and 2) populations.
