View Full Version : No more worked or shaped workstations?

Just wanted to comment... the worked and shaped workstations that are for sale from the tradeskill merchants might not be used as often for actually making items, but I use them a whole heck of a lot when decorating houses. How else are you going to get your hands on a stove and what not when building a kitchen of sorts? Or a forge for a weaponry? Please reconsider... or consider adding them as basic furniture items instead. With the change, we'll be stuck having to pay 10 platinum and an enormous amount of status for an item that might only be used for decoration.

I believe the Simple ones should still be there....will check when I can. I use those for stoves for my houses on live....they are like 6k status and I forget the gold, but not much.

You will have your stoves.

They're only removing the 2 middle ones, the ones that make up to shaped (2nd line) and worked (3rd line) leaving the one that can make up to pristine (elaborate) and crude (simple). While the simple has use as a decoration item, the other two, since LU#24, have been nothing short of confusing for new crafters. I still wish that the elaborate (and even the simple) were also available without guild membership (I'm in two level 60 guilds) for a higher coin cost, even if their purchase required city faction with the tradeskill society.

I think I see the problem DEVs are seeing. Players like you, that are members of 60+ guilds with lots of status, can get these. it's players like me, that aren't a member of guild, or in one too low to get these. I would love a working stove and keg for my house, to place next to the pantry, and etc, so players is purchasing from a crafter, and not a bot.

I do keep resources in my house too, and it's a huge pain, to having to go there to get items, go back to the area to craft. Heading to the broker is another pain in the tush too. I craft in No-qeynos, and have to go to bank, then craft. head to broker, back to that area to craft. Repeat and wash. Too many steps!

Not that I see any player in my house, when I'm there, but it would be nice they see me crafting. A cute little system message can greet them, by saying " You are greeted by a delightful aroma, wafting from Player's stove.", or can be a sound of sewing machines, or forge, etc.

But, there have been a lot of confused (and even angry) posts in the tradeskill forum any time someone buys one of those two with higher expectations. But, I'll repeat myself, I would -much- rather have (and actually always have wanted) tradeskill stations available to those who aren't in 25+ guilds or even in guilds at all like horses are. There should be tradeskill stations for a higher coin amount that aren't tied to guild level and don't cost status (for Rijacki, it was actually a struggle to get enough status to buy the elaborate; she doesn't raid, therefore she doesn't have status pouring out of her ears, so much for your theory that members of 60+ guilds automagically have oodles of status). I do think, though, that for ones not requiring guild membership, it would be dandy to have them require faction from the tradeskill society, something you can only get from doing tradeskill writs (well, at least the Qeynos and Freeport ones, not sure about Kelethin and Neriak).

Just to clarify (since it was me that removed them): The city merchant previously sold 4 qualities of crafting station:

simple (makes crude quality only) -- cheapest, lowest guild level requirement

shaped (makes up to shaped quality)

worked (makes up to regular quality)

elaborate (makes up to pristine quality) -- most expensive, highest guild level requirement

The city merchant no longer sells # 2 and 3, but still sells #1 and 4. The middle two quality levels were never extremely useful, and since the subcomponents have been removed from crafting recipes, they were completely useless. The simple crafting stations are still available for anyone who wants to use them just as decoration, or to grind out crude things for any reason. And the elaborate crafting stations are still available for those who want to actually craft in home. Anyone who previously owned a shaped or worked crafting station will still have it, they just aren't for sale any longer. Hope that clarifies things!

The multiple versions of the equipment have long confused folks, and the two middle versions were never really that used/useful. One thing that would be really great with the two remaining ones is if the examine text on them was tweaked a bit so that the simple one clearly indicates that it is only able to craft crude items, as I know there's been confusion about it in the past. Thanks for all the housekeeping and such, Domino! I'm really excited about the wide variety of changes, tweaks, fixes and extras we're starting to see!

IM glad to know all my worked ones will remain and still work though.. =) Especially since I believe I have 1 of every station in my room.. forge, stove, woodbench, alchemybench, sewing table, and desk...

U might also want to look into changing the elaborates status cost, they currently cost more status to buy then a qeynos or freeport 5 room house.
