I have a 70 warden and currently leveling a second Warden who is lvl 56.

I normaly do quite well in duels.

I dueled a 55 Fury today and I have to admit it was a good fight, I thought I had him beat several times; but numerous times in the fight he regenned his mana to full rather quickly, I asked him about it and he told me it was an AA.

I'm not familiar with Fury's, do they get an AA with that fast of a recaty time "6 times or more during the duel" If so what do Wardens get that remotely even comes close to being balanced with that" nothing" Some might say Genesis; but it's not even close to being as powerful as regenning quickly to full mana.

Animalism - it's a great AA that allows them to regen their power to full with a few melee hits. I miss it

As for the balance.. idk we're already pretty awesome at holding onto our mana.. no we can't regen up to full that quickly without a clicky item, but we generally don't need to either whereas a fury is going to burn through their mana a lot sooner than we will (proven by the fact that you ran his mana low like that 6+ times in one duel).

End ability in the "Animalism" line.

Basically it shapechanges you (or a mage/priest group member you have targetted) into a tiger (if illusion forms are turned on) and gives you +100% haste, +attack power (and +hp and 1k+ mitigation if cast on a mage). You become stifled for the duration. Lasts for 60s, has a recast of 60s. Can be toggled off early if required.

While attacking in this form every single melee hit that lands will 100% proc an attack called "Tear" which does nice damage (about the same as trouby CoB proc), lowers your hate level and restores a small amount of power per hit.

Combined with Agitate M1 (enhanced to 15% proc rate), a +haste worn item, and the STR AA line a good Fury can achieve +200% temporary haste, more than +50% DPS and double attack 40% of the time. Add in a nice Phantom Pith/Handle adornment on your weapon for extra power drain and you can kick out some decent melee dmg and drain/restore power very quickly at the same time. It has saved my bacon on numerous long fights with named -- root/snare the named then animal-vamp the nearest weak roaming mob(s) for power.

Got to watch that Stifle though. Makes it far more challenging to use in groups unless you have backup healer or your tank isnt taking much dmg.

I think Wardens get some similiar ability that gives you guys/gals a sick amount of melee crits and major melee bonuses (with no stifle), right?

PS: If you duel him again and notice him restoring his power while in melee range just quickly root/snare him and step back out of melee range. He will have to drop animal form to cure the root and he won't be able to re-establish the form for 60secs.

I hate dueling Warden's. You guys are tough to kill.

When fighting a Warden most of the time I'll pre-inspect him/her and note:-

a) Max HP b) Gear stats (will usually tell me if they are going to try to melee or cast-at me) c) Resists (especially heat & magic)

If they have low max-HP and/or low heat/magic resists I'll usually throw up a Hibernate+HoT and go for a quick clean kill with Energy Vortex > DoTs > Starnova > Thunderbolt. If I crit either the nova or the bolt with EV up the fight will either be over or he'll be <20% hp and frantically healing (in which case I keep up the onslaught and he usually dies the next time I cast Thunderbolt -- which can crit for well over 5k with EV up).

For melee warden's with good gear/hp/resists I usually try to play it safe and play a longer fight. Since I have spiked adorns on my shoulders/shield + M1 spineskin + 2-3 in-built gear-procs that cause various types of dmg I can afford to let him hit me and simply heal (and occasionally use Urchin) and keep hitting him with Bolt/RoF. He'll be taking roughly 120-300 dmg per melee hit he lands on me (more if I am using Urchin) and using up power far faster on heals and combat arts.

I do OK but I still lose duels to good Wardens from time-to-time

Doesnt the fury have or used to have a spell that drains pwr from target and restores to them? (non mele , cureable) ...........Before we got the mele option I never could beat a fury ....they always beat me on the pwr battle that most priest vs preist battles end up being ....you know like 20-30 mins or sumthin?

They'er still tuff as hell.......It still comes down to who is pushing the buttons though.

Thanx for the clue's on your strats Bayl

The phantom handle is the only thing closely resembling what i was talking about ......But when this was first used on me (maybe im thinking of a diff class ....was a long time ago before adornments)

It was a dot spell used at range .... and when i hit my mana stone ....id have to use the pwr in a hurry before it got taken away.

Like i said , it could be a diff class im thinking of.

In all honesty, I never have any problems with any other casting class, almost never have any problems with any fighter classes... brigand/swashie/assassin are the only classes I *might* have issues with... I don't do the stupid "OMGAHZ ENERGY VORTEX AND BURN MANA"... I rarely even use EV in duels, resists are a pain. I'll use my DoT's and stand and outheal all the damage done to me. I can run a brawlers oom and then animal form my mana to full if need be, and then hold the fight. I can outheal most casters, and AE here and there to deal with pets. Basic strat... if they are melee, hib/regrowth/urchin. If they are casters... hib/regrowth/urchin. Either way, everyone uses their big hits and I mitigate most of the damage. I have my DS mastered, have a DS applied to my shield and shoulders, so melee take large hits everytime they touch me. And hey, in those scout duels.... I run faster. Catch me if you can. Healer VS Healer... I gauge their damage at the beginning, seeing how it goes, keep my health and power up... If they damage slowly enough, I will EV and unload on them to about 15% pwr, drop EV, hib/regrowth, animal form (try and root me if you want, wis caster + decent gear = lots of resists) Right now I am pulling 600wis, 700int, just broke 6k hp and 7k pwr I think...
