I've installed the EverQuest 2 with Desert of Flames expansion from the DVD and it took around 14 hours to finish the updates and KoS expansion, having a lot of messages saying "download cancelled" so I had to click again on "download" Finally it finished but when I click on PLAY it says Eq2 Client error, so it crashes... Now I've LaunchPad running again and it says 7 hours remaining to finish the download, and "character select unavailable" as always. If it helps, I have Windows XP SP2. I don't know what to do, I want to play and I don't know why I can't. I've been trying for 3 days and it seems when I restart the LaunchPad it downloads always the same files.

If you are having problems with Station client/launcher, here are some suggestions that may help you resolve your problem. 1. Make sure that your system clock is reporting the correct time/date/year. Any inaccuracies here will be reflected in the checksum files and mislead the patcher into redownloading them over and over, (this is also known to be a cause of keymappings resetting). 2. Please make sure that you have no viruses or spyware. Both AdAware and Spybot are excellent programs. For free anti-virus, you can use the following http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ 3. After you complete a "regular" scan, please immediately run a complete file scan. Sometimes this will catch a few files that the regular scan somehow missed. 4. Make sure that the game directory is not set to READ ONLY. Also make sure that the files within the directory are not set to READ ONLY. 5. Also I'd suggest that try disabling the firewall, and antivirus software if they are installed. Make sure you are not running any programs on your windows taskbar. If the problem persist you should try running your system under a clean boot as this will prevent any hidden programs from loading. To disable background programs: 1. Select the START button. 2. Select RUN. 3. Type in "msconfig" [without the "] 4. Press OK 5. Select the STARTUP tab. 6. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use WindowsXP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list. 7. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.
