Instead of having to use the digital download, to just allow them to purchase the Retail version Key. The 16 character key that gets entered when you buy an expasion at the store.

1. Why download the files, just to download newer versions when the game launches. Download twice? Don't make sense. 2. A lot of people can not find the retail version of the game in stores, so people miss out on the retail packages, EOF containing KOS and DOF. Example, Walmart refuses to carry EQ any more. 3. Everything revoles around the key, when I bought EOF, all I had to do was enter the key, didn't even have to put a CD in the drive. 4. Why even bother to have a copy of the game, something happens to the computer, just download the game launcher, log in, and it updates the game for ya, as long as your account has the proper keys assigned to it.

This gives SOE enough time to make the change, so that when the expasion comes out, new people would be able to get the game, and dare I say it, get to play.

I buy a new PC every two years. I have dsl, 3mbs, I don't even want to think how long it would take me to download 35gb. Hell, patching VG is a bear. I can't wait for the new intergrated background patcher. I actually will go out and buy the newest compliation pack ones the price drops. I've got EQ2 eof, eq1 annivesary and SWG complete. (Oh, I've got a SA account obviously) Also, a physical box keeps the game 'fresh' with a new product in stores. That was one of the keys to EQ1's growth. A new box every 6 months, and a combo pack every year.
