what i would like to see in this game, would be changing ur adventure class. i could visit a adventurer class NPC who could change ur class. but changing ur class would never loose ur original class. example: ur a 70 zerker and love the character u have built (name, friends and stuff like that) and want to play a ranger. u visit the Adventure Class Changer NPC and switch to ranger, automaticly removing all zerker specific gear and spells and giving u level 1 ranger CAs. u play a ranger for an hour, then a guildie says, "hey, we need ur zerker." return to the NPC and switch back to ur zerker, retaining the progress u made with ur character as a ranger. they could make a limit to how many classes a single character can switch between like 2 or 3. i dont know, just a thought i had, what does everyone else think.

I think I read someplace here in the forums where someone else suggested similar ideas such as this. I don't think its a bad idea, but I also don't think it will happen simply just because you can always go to the character select screen and roll a ranger (or whatever class you want to try) and then play your zerker when you are ready. I know, you have to go through releveling this way, but in honesty, a level 70 ranger who has never played a ranger or learned the in's and outs of the class may not be a great thing anyway. I tend to think (my opinion of course) that leveling a ranger (or any other class) would be more useful to others, as you would know more about your class and be able to bring something to your groups/raids etc...

It takes time to learn the class, simply talking to some npc and getting the new class only to change an hour lately is lame. Not to mention you cut out the times when you have to step outside that bubble called a guild at meet that new person who happens to be the ranger. It removes the need to have people of varying skills play varrying classes.

So essentially you're asking for the FFXI job system in EQ2?

<p>Sure, you should be able to respec your class but just like respecing Tinkering or Transmuting you should be dropped back to level 1 in adventuring, lose all your spells like when you betray, all most or all of your gear is going to be useless unless you choose a similar class and your AA trees will be lost. When you consider those points the only things you would really get to retain are quests accomplishments(which will suck because you are going to wish you could do those to level your toon), collections (again for the same reason), housing (maybe depending on your new class, you might have to move cities which is a whole other problem), money (ok, whatever), and your crafting abilities (which doesnt mean much these days anyway). </p><p>So really, when it comes to choosing an adventure class you are better off rolling another toon and starting over for that one anyway but if you are willing to give up the things mentioned above I am ok with it.</p>

<p>one of the devs (cant recall the name) answered this question on the last "dev chat".</p><p>said they already had this feature in game, it was called "Create New Character"</p><p>so i dont think they'll be adding anything like this <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>well, if ya did the class change thing, u wouldnt be a level 70 ranger but a level one ranger and start leveling as if level one, but when the need to change back to ur zerker came up, u can do it and be a level 70 zerker and reequip ur gear and such. ur character never forgets how to be a zerker.</p><p>yes, i think i remember the dev chat, but what if ya like the character u have built, friends, reputation and all and dont much like alts. u keep the original character just have him change its class for a while and start over a new class, but u always have the option of returning to ur old class at the level it was at..</p><p> it would be good for ppl who are getting burnt out playing their current class and dont much like playing alts. also, if ur a not a needed class for certain things and like ur character u can switch classes to a needed class, grouping would be alot easier. plus ppl who dont have enough alt slots would probably be happier, cause they can try a new class with a current character, and keeps the other slots for just characters on other servers.</p><p> as for the jobs in FFXI, im not familiar with it.</p><p> in the end, it could be a form of multi-classing.</p>

Just a thought: people might be able to read your posts if they were in English.
