Exactly what is a professional spell? Both they claymore shield and the last AA of the paladin Int line reflect a professional spell but no one that I talked to is really sure what one is. Can anyone shed some light on this please and thanks. Kash

Kash
Have a feeling it's the devs way of nerfing the shield so spells that are reflected backward are profession based only (Inquisitor, SK, Warlock) etc... . This way if your facing down a super mob that fires off ubber spell X it isn't outright reflected back at the mob. Hope i'm wrong about that but that's the way I read that effect on the claymore shield.

Professional spells are those that are shared by a class (profession). The Illusionist's Spellshield "buff" has had this phrasing as far back as mid-DoF, it's not anything new. It means the effect will only act/reflect on spells cast by a mob that are those shared by a regular class and not a mob-only ability.

Essentially, if a mob casts Apocalypse, a spellshield of whatever type that reflects profession spells can trigger, if the mob casts Rain of Thistles nothing will happen. The first is a warlock spell, the second is a 'mob unique' spell, and as its very rare with mobs using our stuff, reflects are pretty much useless these days.

It's very amusing when a mob stuns or mezzes itself after trying to do the same to you.

A downside about spellshields for squishie classes (like Enchanters) is that if you cast it on the MT and during a body pull the mob casts a spell that gets reflected back but before the MT can taunt, it is as if you cast the spell for purposes of threat and social aggro. Meaning the mob will head directly toward you, instead of the puller, and any nearby buddies may decide to join in on the fun (which otherwise wouldn't).
