View Full Version : Which dev would be in charge of, say, the arena?

I've been trying to get some kind of dev contact about the Maj'dul Arena - there're about 40,000 things I wanna say about it (like how there're a ton of ignored bugs, the lack of anything for it in the past eon and a half, the mysteriously missing Scaleborn Recruit, balance issues, etc...) but my attempts have mostly been ignored. I can never get a question answered in developer chats, nobody answers my PMs, my petitions aren't effectively answered... so I have a few questions: #1.) What's an effective way to get in contact with a developer? I've exhausted all possible options that I can think of. #2.) Which developer would be the one to get into contact with about the arena? I really have no idea, as even when I've sent merely a PM asking this question, it's ignored. *sigh* It really sucks when you feel like you're being ignored when you're trying to improve something you're passionate about I try to go into the arena constantly, and I've even unlocked my Shifter, but when you've got problems like the level caps in the Character PvP arena not doing ANYTHING, and numerous /bug reports being totally unaddressed... Hence, I just wanna get into contact with a dev to let them know about various stuff that's been overlooked.

As far as I know, there is NO way to get in touch directly with the developers. I could be wrong, but as a developer of software myself, I know I can't talk to every single end user that wants to discuss their thoughts about my software, and its got to be a hundred times worse for an online game with as many users as these games get.

Sure they shouldn't talk to every single player, but if someone's determined enough there should be some way to get in touch with them. I've been trying to get some issues noticed for MONTHS. Considering the arena pretty much hasn't been touched since the release of KoS (barring a fix conflicting with PvP server deaths), a total lack of ANY dev posts concerning the arena, no questions answered on it, MASSIVE bugs that aren't getting fixed... and there's no way to say "hey, what's the deal?" I'm not talking about "I, like, have some great ideas!" I'm talking about "I have a list of at least 5-10 huge bugs, many imbalances and general glitches, things that have been broken since DoF release even... not to mention the Scaleborn Recruit has been missing; unlooted on any server according to the eq2players item database. Added to that, EoF did nothing for the arena, and RoK has had nothing announced for it either, so I'm a bit concerned. Now, normally, when there are problems like this, the problems are solved through the following: Petitions /bug /feedback Developer Chats Forum Posts PMs to Devs/Mods General notice (some developer sees it while playing or something) Etc. Guess how many of these have worked? Hint: It's a nice, small, round number. 0. It's worked for almost every other issue with the game, but not the arena. When a game's character arena is totally botched because a lv65 player can barely even touch a lv70 (due to the con system acting like it's PvE, which was fixed on PvP servers but not the arena), some options (such as level adjustments) don't even work, things are missing, etc. And the "alternative" form (arena champions) has numerous bugs that drive players away, and NOTHING is done to fix it... engh. Hell, one of the champions barely qualifies as working (Moppet Master gets stuck inside the spawning area constantly and it takes a LOT of effort to get him out into the arena), and it's a royal pain to get too x_x. Also, most of these aren't just my concerns. Most of the people I know who go to the arena more than once in a blue moon have very similar concerns... particularly the bugs, and the assumed-bugged-drop Scaleborn Recruit (a feature of an expansion released 1yr3mo ago) that hasn't been addressed. Aside: They probably saw a bard/enchanter in the arena and decided to shun it (just kidding of course)

I get the impression the devs view the arena as a failed experiment.

Sure, there are a lot of ways it could be enhanced, but I'm pretty confident it's been written off and is of very low priority. And I kinda agree with that because I think dev time is a lot better spent on other things.

With any new feature there'll always be a small number of people that really love it, but you're in a tiny minority even using the thing (I've never had the patience to start a match there). So I wouldn't expect any changes anytime soon.

Devs read their PMs. Keep it short and to the point with a clear message title. Sometimes they reply. Sometimes they don't. Most players seem to not do much unless it has benefits they think are worth the effort so I doubt the arena will ever get to a place where there are even ten rooms at any given time. Which is a shame because I am sure at some meeting fun ideas were shot down because somebody mentioned how the arena flopped. It isn't a PvP thing either. If you made a 500hp adornment the reward for 1000 wins then people that hate it for one of twenty stupid reasons would be in there six hours a day. Maybe in a few expansion when they need more content to fill an expansion something will happen. You never know.
