Ok so I'm stuck at the patcher screen... I just bought the EoF all-in-one pack and everything installed nicely, set up my subscription fine and I get to the patcher screen. Well it says it's got 2 hours to go so I head off to sleep. When I come back in the morning it says update complete... sounds great.... but where the hell do I log in from?

I've got a greyed out UPDATING button, a button underneath that for "download" except whenever I hit that button it simply downloads the same single file every time and leads me straight back to my original problem screen. From there i've got: chat(useless since moderation won't let me talk), My account, support(I'm trying this first with the hope of faster response), preferences, update notes, station players, adventure packs, and expansion pack buttons. Then on the right it's showing me 2 of my characters from my beta days(clicking on those simply brings me to their profiles, and a button for the test server....

Nowhere is there a "Start the freaking game" button.

I assume that the Start button is supposed to take the place of the greyed out UPDATING once it's done downloading the patches and whatnot, but this doesn't seem to be happening.

So umm.... suggestions?

Edit: and whats more... they erased my long history of posts and my pre-beta forum joining date

Have you tried to restart the app? I know it sounds silly but re initilizing the network communication might help.... and are u behind a forewall or any other packet filtering hardware or software?

I'm running vista 64-bit and I just opened the application as administrator and it seems to be downloading more than earlier(another hour and a half download). I'll turn off my firewall for now as well and see if those help.

I had a similar problem with Vista and may have your solution. You need to right click the EQ2 icon and select run as administrator. There may an additional step in there but I am at work and can't remember. There is a section of the support text that has more info. The problem I was having was that after updating, when I tried to download it kept saying download cancelled until I tried the run as administrator thing. If you look back several days in this forum to a topic titled "download cancelled" you can find the site that I was given which really helped me. After that all was well and it downloaded quite quickly compared to some posters reporting 8 hour or more download times. Now my question is weather to tempt fate after a difficult installation and try to download the Neriak content. Well keep at it, this game is so worth it.
