I was wondering - what is the point of building faction with your Deity if....

There are no alters in their temples and the keepers of those temples still attack you when you enter?

Dont know why I started thinking about this but you would think each Deity would have a temple somewhere in the landscapes of Norrath (several do, Ro and Cazic Thule come to mind) but those temples dont have alters nor offer sanctuary for followers of those deities.

Should the deities all have temples in the cities too? Dont people in Norrath go to Church?? LOL (Hey, I am not treking to lavastorm to pay homage to Ro only to be slaughtered on the way)

Yes, I know we get alters from our homes, I was just wondering why they were included elsewhere in the game. You could go to your deity temple while out adventuring and make sacrifices etc without having to return home.

Why was this not considered?

Temples are something I'd really like to see someday. Having the prophets just standing around in random spots in the wilderness alwasy struck me as a bit odd. I've actually thought this out in the past, and this is how I could see it going down: First, have an event where all the prophets go and build/rebuild/move to temples in logical places in the old world and Faydwer. -Quellious: Move to the Silent Fist Dojo in Qeynos -Tunare: Move to the House of Falling Stars in Kelethin -Mithaniel Marr: Maybe rebuild Val'Mar in the Commonlands; or maybe rebuild one of those undead forts in Antonica. -Solusek Ro: Drive out the undead, and rebuild the Temple in Lavastorm -Brell Serillis: Build a temple in Butcherblock -Innoruuk: Move to the Spires of Innoruuk in Neriak (already kinda did it) -Cazic Thule: Build a temple around the Gate to Fear in the Feerrott -Rallos Zek: Either build a temple in Zek, or move into the Temple of War in Freeport Obviously, this puts some of the prophets in hard to reach places for lower level players; to fix that, I'd also add representatives of the gods around the priest guilds in each city. You can speak to them to become a follower, and when you choose a god, you would be given a 'Call' spell that lets you teleport to the temple of your god. This would give places where you could use altars, and also gives room for more NPCs to act as deity-specific quest-hubs, and perhaps expand the deity system beyond just the blessings and miracles.

The Lost Temple of Cazic Thule and the Temple of Solusek Ro were already in existence before the gods returned. They are also, in part, ruins. And they are also filled with creatures who, whilst they may follow the god to which the temple is dedicated, hate other creatures ... or view them as food. Religion is not an all encompassing unifying force that causes different species with wildly different worldviews to suddenly put aside their differences and work together in peace and harmony. Just saying.

Nia~

Yeah, I remember as far back as EQ1 that the mobs in Cazic Thule hated everyone....except Iksar. I remember Iksar were dubious there.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Temple of Solusek Ro being retaken, cleaned up, and become a huge quest hub again. Perhaps it could also become the staging point for a war questline against the Shadowed Men obelisks since the Temple of Sol Ro and the Shadowed men are old enemies anyway.

Solusek Ro is thier least concern now.

You could build faction with your deity for helping reclaim and rebuild their temples.

There haven't been any live events recently, and I think that would absolutly amazing to rebuild the temples.

I agree, rebuilding templaes around Norrath would be an incredible live event.

Oooh, yeppers. An event like the spires/griffon towers where we all converge on our priests to lend a hand to build a temple. Genius. Make it so SOE, we'll send you imaginary doughnuts as a reward.

Begs the question though, where to place these temples.

Could always create them in the priest quarter of the cities. But there'd be a lack of room there to properly place a suitably impressive building. And the neutral deities aren't present in a city anyway.

Can't really just throw them up wherever the diety representative is at the moment. Mithanial Marr's bloke is idling in a non-descript building in Kelethin, a temple there would look rather out of place. Could select a place that's featured in the histories of that deity and their followers I guess.

If everybody will learn to spell deity and altar, it will happen.
