Hydromancer AE Prevention

Just a basic question. I was wondering if the Hydromancer's AE prevention ability works raidwide. The ability states 3m AE which, you would think, covers any ally in a 3m radius. Just want to know if anyone has tested it and if it works as stated.

the hydromancer only affects 6 targets but its is raid wide so it will block aoe's for the closest 6 people to the hydromancer if the spell is up when an aoe is cast which ussualy isnt the case, makihng the hydromance a pretty worthless pet
