I have read the threads stating that Iceshape is a must for RAIDing Wizards as well as maxing out Frigid Gift. What I am not understanding is what the benefit of using these two together for the wizard are? I have read a few threads that are stating using the combo of the two increases DPS, but I am not understanding how? Am I reading this wrong? Is the DPS better for the entire group or just for the Wizard? Thanks for the input...

Frigid Gift makes all non-heat hostile spells the group casts proc extra damage. Iceshape turns all heat spells into cold spells, thus making those too proc extra damage. So Iceshape + Frigid Gift with aa's to extend the duration = 17 seconds of damage boost for the entire group.

Does the Extra DPS go for each person or show up under the DPS of the Wizard? Do not get me wrong I understand the point of it better now and see how it can help the group much better.

The damage is assigned to that person, and not to the Wizard. However, even though 17s may seem like nothing, FG5/IS can account for nearly 5% of groupmates damage in a caster heavy group. So yes, it raises the groups DPS significantly, as well as your own (albeit a smaller degree than faster casting classes.)
