I remember these two spells from EverQuest 1 and I think they would make great additions to EQ2. It would help casters to see who is around them and be prepared for pvp fighting instead of always being caught flat-footed. Sentinel was a dome of energy that surrounded the enchanter (i believe) in EQ1. Any being that crossed that barrier triggered a message to the caster saying "Your Sentinel warns you that Billyjobob is near." It could work much like track where if you have see invis/see stealth then you would get messages for those players as well. And it didn't have a huge range in EQ1... it wouldn't replace the scouts Tracking ability but just give the casters a heads up that someone is nearby.

Eye of Zomm was a neat little floating eyeball that the caster could use to look around. It would transfer your sight to the Eye of Zomm and your toon would stand where you left it (hence a risk for pvp) but it did not aggro anything and allowed you scout quite effectively.

Anyway... just two ideas I remember from EQ1 that I thought would help out the casters from being blindsided and slaughtered. PVP I am finding is mostly about who gets the initiative... so keep on your toes!

I remember those spells. Yup enchanter had sentinel and wizzy (I think mage had it also) had eye of zomm. Had lots of fun casting eye of zomm in newbie areas and watching people freak out. Both spells would make a nice addition in EQ2.

Perfect, that would be a great "FUN" spell for RoK.

Bump.

Sentinel would even the playing field for casters against scouts. Give it a 30-40 meter range that requires what you can currently see and bam! Casters just entered the 1vs1 game.

Hardly an equalizer but useful situationally nevertheless.

As for EQ1 spells, the EQ2 team seemed to be afflicted with a "not invented here" anti-eq1 attitude when they designed EQ2. That's why they threw out most of the cool spells (like levitate) and totally decimated the capabilities of some classes (like enchanters).

It could even give them a track type window, they just dont know direction, distance, and level, and they cant get the yellow ribbon. Would at the very least give them a heads up pvp my be inc, and they need to prepare.

Eye of zoom could also be interesting. Would be extremely situational, and not something i would cast by myself, but in a group situation, it could be extremely valuable to figure out the classes and levels of oppenents that are just over the hill. It would also have some good PvE use as well, as long as the eye isnt visible and agros like it did in EQ1.

As a swashy, getting the jump on a caster ensure's my victory. The few fights i have had with casters that saw me coming and could prepare were much much closer, and i have even lost some of those, or had to flee.
