Not sure I have this in the right place, but here goes.

I have the original DVD set for EQ2, and an hour ago I began reinstalling.

According to the timer, I will be downloading for another two hours in order to update the original game with three adventure packs and two expansions.

How would we go about getting a DVD update disk for our accounts?

Or perhaps it might be possible to download files directly so we can burn them ourselves?

I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars and some shipping just to get an update DVD that has to use my existing account.

Install original disk. Insert update disk. Install update disk, then play.

Does such a feature already exist, or is it possible for me to download the files and burn them myself?

Thanks!

There is no updated install disks for the game. Even the EOF disks are out of date when you install them. Best bet is to just backup your eq2 install directoryto a cd/dvd as it stands. The dvd/cd's would be out of date the first time a patch is done. I just backup the directory to a external drive once a week

I don't expect for there to be a perfectly updated commercially available dvd on the shelves of the local Best Buy, lol

I understand that the files would be much larger for EQ2, but Anarchy Online, for example, allows you to download patches that will take you from any version of the game, to a modern version.

You mention the eq2 install directory - does this have copies of the files downloaded in such a way that if they were inserted into the eq2 directory on a new install, the installer/updater would recognize them and not spend three hours downloading?

For those of us that move from game to game as time moves on, occasionally coming back, it's a lot more tempting to come back if we know we won't have to spend three hours downloading to reinstall.

*shrug*

You can just copy straight from an uptodate eq2 folder to anywhere you want. For instance I just got a new PC last week, copied the entire EQ2 folder structure over to my new pc and it was pretty much good to go (admittedly it took 20 mins or so to move it over - but thats still a lot lot faster that downloading it all). And it also meant that all my options were already set up as I like them

Note it did have to download a bit, but thats cos EQ2 also seems to store some of its launchpad stuff in a seperate directory that I forgot to move over.

We all do backup our machine right?
