I am about to role up an alt but only really played 3 characters to 70... I was wondering aside from necro's and conj's what are some of the better solo'ing class in the game? preferably not skirt

I play a 70 Monk that I probably soloed 95% of the time. The monk has a heal and can feign death, both of which make it a great solo class in my opinion.

I still hold to the fact that ShadowKnights are the second best solo class in the game behind Necromancers. With a SK you get the benefits of a fighter's high mit and weapon choices and the ability to do above avg damage with casting. You have lifetaps to heal yourself, the ability to summon a temp pet, stuns and KD's from your shield bash lines, and some of the best AA's in the game. You're pretty much a Necro-Fighter. They make great solo chars and if you chose to RP, you have the whole "Fallen Knight" aspect to tap into. Not that I'm biased or anything

I also have a Bruiser, and he's fun to solo. With a heal and high DPS and Kung Fu moves, he's dang fun to play. Plus I dual weild cudgels which actually look like bowling pins. Now who wouldn't want to have fun beating the crap outta something with a bowling pin? Non stop chuckles there!

Furies, by the way, are so overpopulated because they're amazingly easy to solo and very, very versatile. After primarily soloing my Assassin up to the three level caps -- and it was much, much worse back before they changed it so you started at level 1 as your actual class -- rolling a Fury felt like I found the "I cheat" button. Until, that is, I rolled the Illusionist, who is even easier. And another poster is right -- soloability does vary, with levels. I mean yes, my Assassin solos perfectly well now, but that's because she's level 70, mastered out, and wearing all legendary or raid gear. It certainly was not so all the way up. Anything, pretty much, is easier to solo in T7 than for the previous levels, as by then you've actually got all of your spell / CA lines, including Ancient Teachings. There are always tradeoffs, is all. A templar or an inquis is nigh unkillable when played well, but it might take one a week to down a mob. A wizard can do remarkable damage and solo astounding encounters, but drops like a rock when breathed on. With some exceptions, soloability is mostly dependent on how much work you're willing to put into getting good at it.

But i wont get into that. Classes that are good at soloing heroics. Healers: Furies, Possibly wardens. Mages: ALL. Pick one you can solo heroics. Some easier than others, Some safer than others, Some faster than others. Scouts: (Not to familiar with these so someone else can edit this who is). Fighters: Brawlers, Crusaders. They tried to make it so every class can solo. Some can solo more than others. Some have REALLY hard time on heroics. But there are other classes you need a lot of gear to solo with (like warriors namely zerkers). Without the gear and just in MC they prob would fail. The ones above dont need much in the way of gear to solo. (Heck i have soloed nakid on my illy befor).

I have a Conj and a Ranger in their 40's. Both I soloed, even without legendary gear and spells, I must admit, I really love my monk. She uses Bo sticks, and it's really a lot of fun watching her fight. Those kicks and spins, after every fight. It looks like she stamping on their bodies for good measure. Too bad some of the best stances don't work, unless you're in a group. I never use the sinster strikes you get from doing the L&Ls, because I'm never sneaking up on my foe(s). I'm usually using a bow on them, kiting their rear.

I never go into dungeons or instances with them, because of the heavy camping, and instances take too much time to do their quests. I ended up having to do the grouped one, and I loaths grouping with all the ninja looting.

Monks are a lot of fun solo. I enjoy mine quite a lot! I also have fairly good luck soloing with my Fury, especially when using Charm Animal...but it takes her a LOT longer to kill stuff by herself than it takes my monk. Still fun, though.

It depends on what you want from a soloability standpoint. Do you want to be able to kill non-heroics/lower level heroics fast, or do you want to be able to take on white/yellow heroics at the expense of quickness?

From the standpoint of "who can solo the highest level heroics", I would have to say Illusionist. It takes some time to learn the class well enough to do it, but it is possible to take on yellow non-casting heroics fairly easily. The downside is that you won't kill things as fast as some other classes might (though not as slow as some might believe). Coercers can pull this off as well, but depends a lot on whether there is a good pet in the zone to charm or not.

From the standpoint of who can kill green/low blue heroics quickly, the best out of each archetype in my opinion are brawlers, summoners, druids, and rogues. Predators and rogues are probably pretty close in the scout tree though.

Honestly, there are really only a handful of classes that I would consider to be fairly poor soloers. Pick which class looks interesting and fun to you; if you take the time to learn the class, you will be able to solo well.

I can solo yellow ^^^ (caster or fighter) in most zones with or without any gear on .. it just takes forever and any adds will kill me, a charm breaking at the wrong time will kill me .. if it is a caster mob, a poorly timed resist will kill me .. but I can do it as long as I dont have really bad luck. almost all classes can solo well. You just need to chose your battles wisely and know what to do when. I think the only classes that cant solo well are the bards. But this is just from what I hear and what I have seen .. I really only play my coercer

We bards are gimped when it comes to soloing anything much beyond rats and snakes. And while my mystic fares a bit better, I think I'd rather have a root canal without anesthetic than go out soloing heroics with him. On the other hand, both my dirge and my mystic are fantastic in a group, even a bad group.

I've played a lot of classes (always solo) and I've found my melee Warden to be best all around. There are a lot of classes that can kill normal mobs faster, but they usually can't take on heroics without pulling out every trick they have. There are classes that are more durable, but their DPS isn't as high so it's really slow going. Warden (and maybe Fury) are kind of in that sweet spot, they do decent DPS, and have really nice survivability. I've taken on blue ^^^ heroics, and it doesn't take that long to kill them at all. I've also been able to solo white and yellow heroic quests without much problem. I don't even need to root or screw around, just run in nuking/slicing up the stuff and using a heal or two when needed. That's just my experience, and I'm sure it depends on playstyle. I also only know level 1-30, haven't gotten higher than that yet (way too many chars).

Brigand. Spent the weekend soloing dungeons for chests, drops, and XP. Solo'd 2 Heroic instances, died only 1 time due to sudden lag spike, which threw my skill and positioning rhythm way off. Brigands solo quite well.

you can solo with almost every class without a problem except maybe a predator like a ranger, or ive found coercers to be a real dam pain sometimes. Other than that If you got good gear and spells you can kill reg mobs, heroic mobs, 3 arrows, names, though you might need 2 others for an epic x2.

My ranger solos fine as long as i don't even think about heroics three-ups

I don't mind that except when i need to kill one for a quest.

A lot of it is about picking your battles. I used to like soloing a cleric in EQ1. They generally sucked pretty bad at soloing but were great against necros. So i used to hunt necro mobs. Was pretty fun rping him as the great necro slayer

If they can even do it, it takes a very long time and you risk running out of power in 1 mob. The AA pet isn't much help either since it's vvv (very very frail) and dies in 2 hits.

I have a Pally that is now 49. He has solo'd almost 95% of the time. The twenties was REALLY slow and painful but when he hit 40 it took off. Of course, the basics still apply, keeping gear updated is important for example. I know the pally was never really designed to solo (in my opinion), but the challange has been fun.
