The one you're best at playing.

They are both pretty much pure DPS, the difference being ranger gets most dps from ranged attacks and CAs, assassin gets most from melee. This means in big raids, rangers can stay out of AoE.

Assassin Grping? Assassin Raiding? Assassin Thouhg the raid would depend on if it spams aoe's then the ranger might have the advantage at the distance. Otherwise the assassin gets the job done.

@tass - I won't argue about the grouping or raiding aspect on who is better between Assassins and Rangers, I have seen people post very nice parses for either and think both work well. But there is absolutely no way an Assassin can match a Ranger in solo'ing. It is simply not possible. The whys are simple, Rangers can hurt things really bad at a safe distance, Assassins are more limited. Factor in the Raincaller with fettering poisons, and you have an often perma stunned/snared mob. As well as Focus Aim m2 which puts me at ~75% ranged crit, ~170haste ~120dps and ~530 ranged skill... for 15 seconds of every minute. I am not bothering to list longer recast skills as I am focusing more for steadier solo'ing, but we have several other skills that help for tougher fights (thorny trap, sniper shot, +haste/dps). Merkades, 70th Ranger. Siege, Najena.

soloing a ranger can beat an assassin hands down, as assassin will have trouble on ^ Mobs with stealth attacks, Grouping i would say even, maybe assassin more due to high damage hits and raiding even, i raided with an assassin who was alot better geared and fully mastered and we were about even (i was using raincaller bow so not a top bow heh) its all about the player behind the keyboard like many says, Example: i know a wizard who cant do anything unless told what to press so there ya go
