This one really has me stumped.

I've just returned to EQ2 from a few other MMO's and decided I'd fire it up and give it a shot. I've purchased a new PC so I reinstalled the game from the original 2 DVD's. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate - on a High end Dell H2C (quad core, dual 8800gtx sli, soundblaster audigy x-fi extreme gamer)

I am a technical person, and can usually troubleshoot issues regarding PC's so here's the sequence of events.

Installed the game - patched for 20 hours or so - finally getting to a point where the game said "Play" from the launcher. I clicked play and was immediatly greeted with an error stating exactaly - This application has failed to start because mss32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

After troubleshooting this error for 2 or 3 hours, moving the mss32.dll out of the SonyEverquest2 directory, back in, deleting it and letting the patcher redownload it, the error continued to reappear. I decided to bit the bullet and I uninstalled the game. I'd been meaning to turn off UAC permanently for some time, so I went ahead and disabled UAC - deleted the %localsettings% directories that were virtualized by EQ2, deleted the Sony Directory under program files, and reinstalled EQ2. Another 20 hours of patching - and it worked! The game launched, and I played for 3 or 4 hours.

Today - I decided to fire it up, and play a little, launcher runs - it appears to be downloading some file named - dbghelp.dll, as soon as this file finishes downloading (or the yellow progress bar reaches the end) the Mss32.dll error is again thrown, and I get no play button, only a download. Each time I click Download, It repeats the process.

Please help!
