New animations as we level in tiers. I was looking at the main signon screen with the gold and silver dragons on the top of it and thought to myself, with the next expansion, I might be able to solo them at 80. Weird. Then I thought, "I wish my character did something different to explain why he can kill grey things with ease." That line of thinking brought me to:

Wouldn't it be cool if from levels 1-10, you only did some clunky overhand slash, or monk punch, or clumsily weaved your hands in spell casting, but eventually got better? In levels 10-20, you gained a side slashing technique and some more swirlies (like in EQ1's graphic), and as you leveled you got more and more?

What I mean by EQ1, was you got better spell casting graphics later in the levels and it was REALLY something to look forward to, and awe it when you didn't have it.

I think it would be cool to look on in awe at a monk twirling and flying through the air when you're just a lowbie, or watch a master berserker go crazy on something when all you can do is chop with your axe, or take a seat and watch a master wizard call forth massive energies, when all you can do is summon a lightning bolt and a little ball of fire.

It gives level progression a little more flavor and more realism to the game when you move/fight different at the endgame, than when you first started.

In RoK they should add, "New combat animations" kinda like selecting your voice for each race, only they should add animations for each class.
full agree , thats a major problem with mages and healers =( i will use wizard as example: 23 spell : ball of fire 65 spell : ball of lava and woot both look the same... make ball biger or add efects or something ok put a lvl 20 wizar fighting and near a 70 wizard..... who is the 70 and who is the lvl 20? ah gear? but NO gear looks the same 20 > 70...... recycling spells is LAZY .... in wow some spells are bigger or launch more "bolts" ...... FFXI is the perfect example Fire I , II , III , IV ,V all looks different u feel stronger

Agreed with you.

While current animations are smooth, they are not what it feels like.

I'd be all about seeing a revamp to the combat animations. It drives me INSANE every time my paladin swings his two handed sword with one hand, or does a thrusting attack with a battle axe.

On the other hand, I like how some of my backstabs are exactly that, stabs, while others seem to magically set my weapon on fire and rake the target from shoulder to hip, and, iirc, I believe there's a third that is a cross-wise slash from left to right. If all my backstabs were "realistic" thrusts... I think I'd get bored watching the fights.

I just wanted to add my 2cp and say: I totally aggree with what's said above, I couldn't have explained it better. I remember, when my friend started playing EQ2 and said to me "Yeah!!! I gained a level and an upgrade of my spell" I said: "Cool! Let me see how it looks like?" (I was hoping to see something more impressive). He just said (a bit disapointed): "Well, I'm not sure, but it looks like spell has not changed..." We were both disapointed, and this feeling kept growing trough the levels, since the same spell graphics and combat animations were used, again and again. EQ2's graphics are very cool, and current effects are very cool aswell but... you konw... seeing them again and again through levels is not really exciting. A "simple" thing would be (as far as this thing can be simple) to introduced more frequent brand new spells, and making upgrades real upgrades ! I mean in character's animation and spell effect. Let's the very first fire ball be small, let's the last one be something big, let's even bring some dynamic camera moves while casting "huge spells", as if the elements were unleashed. I'm sure this is more important than it seems, since it directly affects players' satisfaction.

lol noobs, L2P.... oh wait. This issue needs to be addressed, I have this idea, do you know how summoners summon pets out? okay, at lvl 60 or so they should add that instead of the same animation, your character puts his hand out in front of him, palm facing the ground, and calls up the pet that way.
I always thought they should take their hat off and pull whatever out of the hat. I always feel like say "Oh my, should I call a doctor?" when I see someone summoning their pet. My favorite spell animations are the little cheerleader moves for the Warden Fire spell line (I think its the same as some totems and some others). My least favorite is the coochiecoo thing I do when I call my wolves. Not a fan of the finger waving spell animations either. Oh well... I miss the unique animations/particles we had with buffs way back before ...er LU13 maybe??? Not even sure why they even change the spell name when it advances. Just say: YOUR (blank spell) HAS BECOME MORE POWERFUL!!!. I feel at some point they are going to revamp the spell system... maybe when they get around to balancing the subclasses...
