Diety spells are too expensive. Who wants to spend good gold on temporary spells that arn't that strong, when we've got so many other things eating up our money likes repairs, new spells, and houses? I'd like to propose two new ways to gain favor with dieties without sacraficing money. The first way is by praying. Pray can be done at an alter once per day, and increases your current favor by 5%. Of course this isn't very much for people who have low favor, but those who sacrafice enough to get a lot of favor can pay for most of their miracles and blessings just by praying every day. The second way is by attending a mass. A mass is a player organized event, and each person is only able to participate in 1 mass per week. At the end of the mass everyone who participated will recieve an equal share of favor, and the more people who participate the more everyone gets. Of course each mass is only for 1 diety and only followers of that diety may participate.

Of course but by sacraficing loot instead of selling it, you're still losing money. Also, player hosted events are fun and we need more of them.

Unless you're talking about diets, it's deities. Deity comes from deus which means god.

<p>Or realize that the whole mechanic behind the Diety system is to be a moneysink and either accept that or not use the "temporary buffs that aren't that strong"</p><p>I don't like the first suggestion because with it the rich just get richer due to the percentage scaling. If the mechanics of the second suggestion could be hammered out I'd love to see it just from a roleplaying standpoint. Unfortunately refer to the top of this post so I don't see it happening. Would be very cool though</p>

You could go with the pray idea, however put it at a set amount gain such as 150 and make it where you can pray once an hour. Just a thought.

Think of it as tithing, which is a very common concept in religion. In most religious myths, Gods have required things of value sacrificed to them for followers to prove their loyalty. Anyone can take a few minutes to say "Hey God!" but only the truly loyal will give up worldly goods to show their allegiance.

Perhaps add in deity writs asa means of raising faction, similar to city writs.

Deity faction does'nt exceed the cost of fuels, for me. I think the 'sweet spot' is T4, fuels are fairly inexpensive, and each sacrificed item provides 35, (I think), faction. It's not fast...but it's easy, and pretty cheap.

Not that it should replace having to sacrifice items though. Sav touched on it earlier, but in all cultures at all times in any of the religions, it's been looked favorably upon by the god(s) to give up a certain portion of your worldy possesions. This denotes your faithfulness to your god(s) of choice but doesn't replace the fact that you are still required to do deeds to gain the god's favor as well. So I think writs are a fantastic idea, but the ability to sacrifice items to the altar should also still be kept available. </p><p>As far as the price being too high? I don't think it is. Game wise, it's designed as a money sink, pure and simple. RP wise though, the price for a god's favor has never been cheap. Throughout all the religions in the world, anytime one has sought to be granted a god's favor it has always required the sacrifice of something of great worth. So I think that what we have in place currently works well.</p>
