Has anyone ever had an experience where someone forces a linkdead of another player. I could swear that tonight, a couple of players, either together or alone, forced a group member of mine to experience a weird linkdead. And then they killed her. Anyone seen any evidence of this, or have any information?

The only way i know of is spamming to log a toon in from character select, forcing the one in game to log out, but i doubt that is the case. If they have her info, she might wanna change it.

If your friend has all her graphics settings turned way up on a so-so PC then it's entirely possible that all the spell effects, etc. are overloading her system and she's going LD. The situation is made even worse when you're fighting in places that are very crowded architecturally since a PC has to render all of those bits as well.

I appreciate the replies, but none of these circumstances are what I am talking about. No one has her information and this wasn't about spell effects. Linkdeading by her rarely occurs, and certainly not when randomly running through a zone. This was a circumstance where we just recently repeatedly killed a couple of enemy combatants, one of which is fairly shady. After leaving the zone, and running across Antonica, they came up behind us and as soon as they engaged, she was kicked to character select, linkdead on screen, and killed (losing fame, faction, coin, etc.). The timing of the linkdead seemed WAY too convenient.

fact is, everyone can easy linkdead everyone else.. IF he knows the ip of the person.. there are enough easy ways to get the connection to time out... so If he really got forced to LD, then he would have needed the ip, (prolly from posting in forums etc..)

I suppose then, that is nothing that would show up in a combat log if petitioned, and there is no way SOE can see what happened.
ya people were doing that a while ago. Weather it was the ip or not I don't know. I do know however its not to hard to get anyones ip address if you want it. Especially on online games. All the info is there you just take it.

I know we're not supposed to talk about names of programs here but if the public doesnt know then SOE needs to address these issues in confidentiality and remove people who use these types of programs from game. Simply all someone has to do is log into the game via the OTHER method in you eq2 folder(gratz sony leaving an open backdoor). This way they can use a 3rd party program with eq2. No I don't hack,a nd am probably one of the lowest pvp'rs on venekor at t7, simply cause I play the game for the challenge, not some 13 yr old who wants to laff with his buds, thinking he's a god using a exploit or hack. Also been rumors of an opposing side be able to massively spam emotes which will lag up the game also. Never seen this really being done but is quite possible. If you notice its only when these people who use these techniques are attacking is when the lag occurs. Strangely right after you die the lag is removed, yet you haven't zoned, the only thing that changed is you are lying on the ground dead. Sony won't explain this. They will simply say working as intended. Yet we see it everyday 24-7. Simple solution. Remove the backdoor login's. force a file check on every login to scan for 3rd party programs, if one is found simply ban the IP and send an email to the accused. But since sony can't even code resists correctly, I don't forsee any effort being made to remove these.

They are in their own license agreement supposed to protect the privacy of EVERY person who uses thes forums. If someone has accessed our IP's thru the forums then sony is responsible. And no this is not a threat it is simply the truth im stating.

I base this on seeing those forum signatures of other people that tell you what your own IP is, its pretty disconcerting. Anyway, I've experienced that massive lag from spamming emotes in QH. But once I realized what the person was doing, I put him on ignore and pounded his face in. You've got to be a real tool to use that "advantage." I can't remember what his name was. I have little doubt now, based on the reputation of the individual in question, and the behavior he was displaying in Stormhold, that something fishy went on. Unfortunately it seems like there is no way to trace it. Well, we'll see what happens with the petitions.
heh you can trace it. You run a scan on your own ip address. When a person is attacking it they're own ip will most likely show up in the routes traced to get access to your ip address. Had a similar problem in halo pc with some noob attacking servers. Of course he did it to 1 of mine so I did a trace as it was happening ran each of them to there locations and found little boy juniors address. Of course messing with another persons property is an offense. So I let the men in blue handle it. Or do they where black? Or maybe it just differs in states.

Occasionally i leave my acct logged in at the office, and the only way to get it off is to sit at character select and spam log in my toon until the other goes LD then it lets me load.
