I'm a lvl 41 bruiser and would love to hear your advice. Which stance do you guys primarily use? I know that it's gonna change from time to time depending on the situation. I mostly solo so pretty much stick with Def but I'm curious about my up-coming middle-ground stance. I realize I can just try them out and see which is best for which situation but it can't hurt to benefit from your experience.

Thanks in advanced.

I go offense for pretty much every situation except soloing heroics...for that I will go defence(cuz they hit so [Removed for Content] hard). I rarely go middle except when in group and I'm pulling agro and the healer can't keep up.

My least used is middle stance. But thats just me.

for *REALLY* tough fights i start offence with knock out combo off teh start, once the stuns have run out and i'm waiting for refresh i swap back to defence till the end of the fight, should it still be going bad i'll fear the mob while combat arts refresh, when the mob returns im waiting with the short duration mez. by this point alot of abilities should be up and i can usually finish the mob off no sweat.

Most of the time I tank in offensive stance. On tougher mobs I will tank in offensive until my CAs are gone (I suggest chaining your CAs so that you can stun lock the mob throughout the routine) and then switch to defensive for autoattack and maybe mez/fear until I'm ready to hit more CAs.

thanks for info.

I've been forcing myself to switch Stances accordingly, always forget. I was very surprised to see such a big difference between them. I didnt think my dps would increase so dratically.

The big difference comes from the +skill bonuses. In defensive stance you will miss a lot more than in offensive stance. If you get some +skill items it can help offset this.

If you solo PvP always go off stance. you need the damage and the +hit to get them down more quickly When I tank for a group in PvP I sometimes go def because of the +25% mitigation, but it depends on the opposing group Try for yourself what works best

My monk alt survives more when going Offensive.

Cromm wrote:

anyone have stance advice for PvP?

i generally rock off stance for solo pvp. fire stance is cool when you have group there. pvp seems to be whoever kills the other person 1st, not currently an endurance test by any means. although i tend to get jumped a lot i still do ok solowise

which stance is advised depends on the enemy you are facing for some obviously reason.

If you are able to recognize when your melee enemy wants to bash you, go defense stance to minimize the incoming damage.

In contrast, when you feel fine - your knockouts are ready to immobilize the opponent switch into the offense stance for this duration.

There ist no genereal answer in advance. You have to keep your eyes open, look into your chatparse and decide accordingly to the situation.

Normally when I'm running around I'm in def stance in case I get jumped by a scout...nothing funnier then a ranger breaking stealth only to see his arrows bounce off me. You should switch to off stance when you are actually engaging someone since there really is a big dps difference.

Never used middle stance cause I dont have that one mastered.

If your really able to pay close attention you could switch back to def stance (against scouts/fighters) after you get off your burst of damage and then switch back when your CA's are back up. Generally that doesnt seem to make that drastic a difference though.

Im almost 52 now and basically just stick with Def in case i get jumped. I start a battle with Offense and unload then switch to Def while I wait for recasts. Seems to work best. Unless I'm fighting a mage, I found that Def mod doesnt help at all...guess that's what KDs and Stuns are for, hehe.

I'm a better player cuz of your input...thanks ALL!

I cant get over how much fun Bruiser is

For PvP I almost always go with offensive stance. Other than the rare occation of a guardian or zerker, in which case it depends on thier stance, offensive is the way to go. You need that crushing skill. Middle stance is useful when fighting other brawlers depending on the stance that they're in, but other than that I dont use it much at all.

But yeah, Offensive all the way.
