i also am a fan of regular and soga both. dark elfs look soo badass with soga on. but they need to do it, the armor all looks the same. most armor in the game is the same just different color.

I hate the SOGA models, might as well be playing Hello Kitty Island adventure. If I want anime, I play japanese games, if I want realistically rendered humanoids, I play EQ2 with the original models.

i like both model forms in different ways. Let me list the ways... -Im a dork- ((THESE ARE MY OPINIONS... please no hate >< ))

SOGA: The Good. 1. Smoothness in the skin and features 2. Smaller bodies (I tend to not want every male including wizards to look like Arnold in the weight lifting days) 3. Better hair styles SOGA: The Bad. 1. Crooked necks (Help, I broke my neck!) 2. Half elf chins dont modify 3. Even set to extreme differences, they ALL LOOK THE SAME 4. The [Removed for Content]... it looks like two watermellons sewn onto a toothpick... NASTY (Could be because I dont like [Removed for Content] at all anyway tho.. eww....)

Original: The Good. 1. Somewhat realistic 2. Better body shapes overall 3. Piercings for half elfs 4. Ogre models just totally kick [Removed for Content] <3 <3 <3 Original: The Bad. 1. CLAYMATION. 2. Skin quality of a 6th grader... been through puberty once thank you, NOT AGAIN PLS 3. Some models have sunken eyes... looks creepy (cough wood elf males) 4. Every male is SUPER pigeon breasted... 5. Humans. (If you dont understand... look in the mirror then immediately look at the human model... if you don't scream, I applaud you) Im one of those people that nit pick about the details though... I know some of you probably just randomly select a race and then click random for all the features... but for me... the absolute most important thing for my toons is their looks lol.

Bad [Removed for Content] is 50% looks, 40% attitude, and 10% skill [Removed for Content].

I thought that the SOGA models were purely the heads and didn't affect the bodies at all? (no real experience here, as I don't have them on as I have a "negative" opinion on their looks)

When they were talking about the model revamp (from around last Fan Faire.. a year ago in April), it was going to be for the -body- frame alone and not affect the head and customisations at all. It's been more than 6 months (I think) since the last time any dev made even a slight reference to it. They have done some nice things with -textures- over the basic armor models, though. I still want another -robe- model for some variety. There is more than one armor model for the other types (though they also reuse around though those, too, in different combos). But... what we have is definitely better, in my opinion, than the painted on look of EQ1, WoW, Lineage, etc. While we do have fewer "looks" (and not as radical or revealing), the armor and clothing looks like it is separate from the skin in EQ2 (at least on better graphics settings with a good vid card). While I do want a bit more variety (and even some less heavily concealing items), I don't want it at the expense of lowered visuals.

For the largest part, all the female models were turned into Paris Hilton. Breasts included. Very small.

I assume you meant Lineage 2 (since the first is 2d), and I'm going to have to question whether you've even played it if you could call the armor in that game "painted on." Almost every armor set in that game has it's own model, I don't mean skin I mean it's own 3d model. A lot of it is huge and ornate, with wings and fins and big chunks of metal going off in various directions. I've given up on EQ2 having any additional armor models. I mean it's a big deal for them to make a new hat. They blow trumpets and cheer and list it at the top of the patch notes, and it's just a hat.

Human original model...[Removed for Content] were the devs thinking???? (yes cusa most who read these threads know that you love your human original, dont worry..we wont forget).

Since you can adjust age on the human original why does every age look like a middle-aged woman who been through tons of hardships. Shes so tired looking, and got saggy body parts. If I think thats a lovely look I should be able to choose that on the age slider (or play a Barbarian, but that race doesnt look tired). But if I want a young, fresh and fit human female (like the elves) it should show that when I choose age: young. Far from all humans in the world look like "who the f cares" because of hamburgers, nicotine, no excercise and whatever that wears the body down, so why does the human in a game look like that without alternatives?

I know I can choose soga to avoid looking at it, but it annoys me that other players can see my chars ugly side

(no real experience here, as I don't have them on as I have a "negative" opinion on their looks)

SOGA are completely different models than the original (both head and body).

Now, I don't hate my human female characters (yes I have more than one)looks. I've made them look retty good IMO. However, I'm not completely happy with them either. The cracked dry looking lips make me want to give the poor girls some chapstick and the dark eyes bug me. The skin quality is equally poor across all original models race/sex so that doesn't even need to be commented on with human females. If the skin texture was smoothed out a bit, it would go a LONG way to improving people's view of the original models

And SOGA, man. Skin is TOO perfect porceline and the eyes look like they were painted on =( SOGA really does look like pretty little porceline dollies, which is not what I'm after. That doesn't even cover the why they are jointed so strangely and how anorexic the females (with Pamela Anderson [Removed for Content] jobs of course) look and how barrel chested all the men look. These models could use a little imperfection and toning down IMO. I think that would make a lot of people hate them less (would make the soga lovers though cringe most likely). However I believe a long time ago our devs stated that any changes/bug fixes for SOGA models would be done by the SOGA studio or not at all.

I do think the original human female looks far and away better than the SOGA version, but I think that about all races in SOGA so no surprise there =p.

One part of me still is hoping for the skeleton revamp and seeing neat new armors and stuff. However, I'm concerned that they'd end up messing up the beast races, making them look/stand too human like (ala Vanguard beast races). That's something I'd rather not ever see. I like the beast races here.

I think people loves SOGA skins because they like plastic barbie dolls. THOSE ARE BLURRED TEXTURES MAN! On the other hand, I like original models textures much more, because .. they are imperfect... Just look at your own skin...
