I have read a little bit on these forums but not a ton. My situation is a bit unique so i'd just like some feedback if some kind soul has the time. My wife, son, and I will be playing and we have gone with these class choices: Swashbuckler(I wanted to be a high elf and a scout), Fury(Wife loves this class), and Shadow Knight(Only class my son will consider). What i'm wondering is if these classes will fare well in PVP both for grouping and solo. I know ganking happens a lot from what i've heard and I don't want any of us to have to re-roll because we get ganked and can't stick up for ourselves. So my question is: How do these three classes fare in group pvp, solo pvp, and pve. I'd like to get a nice balance with all three if I can. Which would fare better in solo pvp/grouping for my wife: Dirge or Fury. She is torn between the two. Thanks guys!!

well unless you plan on going exile if you all want to group together, you better pick a side good or evil just an fyi cause i saw a swash and sk i there and that will be tuff to do unless exile and i wouldnt reccomend that either heh

Swashy and fury are very soloable even pvp. No class will do well solo vs a group, but I solo my swashy often.

Furies and wardens are argueably the *most* soloable classes.

Never played a SK, but if you son is anything like mine, he'll love HT at lvl20. The plate and reactive wards/heals make the SK tough to fight solo, so I'd imagine they do quite well.

i recommend going SK, Brig cause that the evil version of a swash, and fury thats a mean trio and yall should do well great dps some tankage group stealth and invis with good gear and spells you should wipe full groups

Sounds perfect! We will go Brig, SK, and Fury. Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Humil's got it right, with those current choices you won't be able to really do it. You -could- exile and all group up and lvl as you wanted, but, well, low lvl exiles all but carry "GRIEF ME PLZ!" signs. So, my advice to you would be. If your son is deadset on being an SK, then you'll obviously have to go Freeport. And if you wife is going to play a fury, then bonus, cause you now have a tank and healer, which means you will probably survive most PvP encounters against anything less than a better geared/skilled/larger group. Now you want to be a high elf and a scout? Pfft, no problems there, I'd suggest going with a brigand, as they are in my opinion the easiest scout class to solo in PvP on the Freeport side. Now for the fun part. Make yourself a high elf swashy. Get up to lvl 10, do the betrayal quests, grind out the instances for quick faction (the Eldar Grove/Scout faction instance is probably the easiest for a scout, only one kill and stealth the rest) then get to Freeport, deal with that [I cannot control my vocabulary] [I cannot control my vocabulary] dog Buddy, I hate him so much, then bam, high elf scout with your family. As for overall, if you guys harvest your [Removed for Content] off, get MC gear and as many ad3's as possible, you'll be fine for the most part, and solo the fury and brig are strong and with some practice and thought the SK will rock too. EDIT: Weak, everyone got in before me

ProfRed wrote:
Sounds perfect! We will go Brig, SK, and Fury. Thanks a lot for your feedback!
just be sure you pick freeport or nerik as your homes best if yall pick the same so it makes it easier on yall reason i say that is a fury is a neutral class and could accidently pick wrong home town and then have to reroll, i would advise all 3 of yas to read the srickie at teh top of the pvp forum to kinda give ya an idea of what to expect im guessing yall come from PVE servers and its a bit different to say the least and GL long live freeport

I heard about the betrayal quest so i'm reading up on it right now. Why harvest so much? Sell the goods to afford mastercraft and adept III's?? Do you know if you can trade currency/items between different factions also??

Very solid mini-group. You shouldn't have any trouble attracting others to it, if the need arises, but you'll be able to hold your own quite well. A couple of tips for you:

Harvest when you're not ganking or questing, as if you pull rares, that's where the fastest coin is made.

Try tradeskilling when the rest of the gang is unavailable. You won't outstrip them in levels that way, you can make some of your own gear, and also make a little money here & there. Jeweler has the best return on investment.

Remember to have the Fury SoW everybody, and take the movement line when using AP's (45% sow beats just about everybody on a horse).

There's no shame in evaccing, but always make sure everybody is close enough to get ported, otherwise somebody's gonna get ticked. "Learn it. Live it. Love it." (2 gold to everybody who remembers that line).

As new players, you won't have a lot of coin for a little while. App IV's ain't great, but they're next to nothing in cost. If you can pal up with somebody who's more established in the game, somebody that will take a little time to help out a newbie or 3, they might offer you something for free. Don't be afraid to take it and return the favor someday; there are more than a few folks here who've made the offer to help out new players, take them up on it.

Good luck.

*added

No, you can't trade between factions, but the black market sells from both sides at an inflated fee. But they are random in the wilds, essentially, and travelling outside of town with coin = loot for the other side.

Dont forget to BANK YOUR GOLD if you die in pvp you will loose some gold you have on you.....

This is the single hardest thing i had trouble with comming from a pve server myself, try try try to remmember or you too will learn the hard way and just make sombodys day

i recomend using a custom UI that will show the gold you have on you at all times the defalt one doesnt and no matter have good you think you are at remmembering you will forget or get some nice gold your self pvp'n you dont want to give it back heh

SK, Brig, Fury is one of the best trios around. If u take the time to get good gear/spells u will rock

A small bit of advice though, dont roll on Vox is you like pvp

Actually we played EQ1, then FFXI, and now i've done some research over here and we played the trial and decided to make the switch. Another question though! Can you trade between two toons that are both in evil side cities. If we split between Freeport and Neriak for example could we party / trade?? Sorry if i'm asking too many questions. I'm at work and don't have a lot of time to research till later on. ^^ We will be rolling on Nagafen. The PVE won't be lacking here will it? Besides getting ganked a lot of course.

There is PvE in Naggy, plenty of it, but if you don't keep that tracking window up you'll never know what hit you. Yes, Evil can trade with Evil. And Humiliation's soooo right about making somebody's day by not banking. Nothing better than seeing you and your friends splitting a couple of plat and rushing back to the bank.

Yes you can trade, but i would recommend u make freeport ur home just for accessability.

And yes, you should be able to PvE aswell. If u get ganked alot in T2, maybe your trio could go to fire myst gully in Antonica. Thats an instance that could probably take you from 15-25 with 0 pvp deaths

One more piece of advice-don't spend too much time in instances, simply because you'll want to get your feet wet with the PvP system. You're going to die, lots at first, just try not to let everyone get discouraged and you should be fine. =) As for looking for help, if you're in Freeport on Nagafen look me up-I might be able to lend a hand.

Well we've been having a blast with this combo. We made a decent amount of money and are mostly equipped with treasured and a few mastercrafted items. Spells are averagely upgraded and we do ridiculously well in PVE. The people we've ran into with PVP have been insanely twinked. A scout that is two levels below us wiping us out in seconds even with our best planning. We just couldn't do any damage to him. I have read about the twinking and to an extent twinking should be in any game but not like this in my opinion. We have put in more than i'd think the average player would at early levels and we as a trio stand no chance against most of these twinks. I think a twink should have major advantages but never a guaranteed win over someone in this situation i've stated. I like the changes coming and we are not gonna level lock but instead try to get higher level to experience more of the game. I am wondering though should we just reroll now on Antonia Bale while we are still low level? Is PVP like this all the way through 70?? Where you either have to farm for a year or buy in game currency and thus cheat to be able to compete? We won't be doing either of these as one is not fun... actually it is insanely boring, and the other is cheating. Winning with cheating is a pretty hollow victory and it never lasts long. We aren't carebears or anything and we love PVP but not when it is this skewed. I mean if we have a mix of adept 1-3's, and treasured/mastercrafted armor mix with an average amount of achievements we should not get steamrolled like this. PVE you still have duels and arenas right?

We have fun role playing from time to time and it seems like one of the two most populated servers? Nagafen and AB? Do you have another suggestion?? RP is fun but isn't make or break. Has AB been around too long so there aren't many low levels?

Good population. No RP stress. PVE.

I like Freeport a lot, I think you and your family will enjoy it too. You can't be a swashy no, but there are lots of other great classes for you to pick.
