I recently downloded EoF on my PC. During the install, and download everything went well, this is my third attempt to get this to work, but after download, I hit the play button and it crashes. I get a black screen for less than a second, then my desktop. I have no idea why this happens. My system meets the minimum requirements, they are as follows... OP SYS: Windows XP Professional Memory: 1G Processor: Intel P-4 2.4 Ghz PC: Compaq Evo I am frustrated beyond belief, I got this PC because it was faster, and had more memory than my last, which played EQ2 until I originally installed EoF, then it lagged due to lack of memory. (only 512) I hope someone can help... I am going nuts here. I have been trying to install this for three days now. Please help...

Your computer does not have a graphics card. Instead, there is a small chip on the motherboard that performs some of the functions of a graphics card. I am doubtful that the $3 graphics chip on your motherboard (the Intel 845G graphics chipset) will run EverQuest II to your satisfaction (if it will run it at all). You can try getting Updated Drivers for your 845G. I'd go ahead and check out the "hardware recommendations" thread here on this Technical Help and Questions forum to see what graphics card you might want to buy. You will want to check out Tom's Hardware's Best Graphics Cards for the Money article for the latest information. I would try to get a 6xxx series GeForce card, since the 5xxx series has much lower performance for only a few dollars savings, but it's really up to you how much you want to spend. I would try to get a graphics card with 256MB of RAM and DDR2 or DDR3 memory. I am running EQ2 on a GeForce 6800XT with 512MB of RAM and I love it.

I thank you all for your assistance in this matter. You have no idea how much I appriciate it. I played some other MMO's for a bit, and whenever I encountered a problem, no one was there to assist. The people here are the reason I came back, well that and Neriak was rediscovered, but thanks again and I hope to see you all in game.

                                                                               - Mike B

Which model of the 510 do you have? And what sort of expansion solt do you have for a graphics card? AGP or PCIE? If neither, I'm sorry to say that you're out of luck.

*edit* Nevermind on the PCIE slot, there's only an AGP slot available on that series, and only on the "Small Form Factor" or the "Convertible Minitower".

http://www.holmans.com/estore/Produ...es/epc_d510.htm

Check this thread out, and make sure that there's an AGP slot; there should be, but double-checking before spending is always a good idea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGP_slot

After that, try hitting up www.NewEgg.com and seeing what you can work with. As it's only a 4x and not a 4x, 8x slot, going for the top-end AGP card would be a waste, but the price of AGP cards is fairly low. The big thing will be in getting one that will fit in the case.
