Description: Sometimes when I am playing, the game will simply lock up. If I am not in battle, I can still move around and such, but cannot interact with anything. As far as I have seen, I do not get a link dead message, and when I try to zone/log the game and my pc completely lock up. Also, the music starts repeating its self at the point of lock up. (usually how I tell it has happened)

Work around: Absolutely none... only way to solve this is to hard restart or hard shut down my pc.

Any help able to be given would be greatly appreaciated.

I had this happen when I first started playing EQ2. Don't know if this is true or not because shortly after I was given this solution, I upgraded my whole system and the problem stopped, but I was told that it was a graphics card driver incompatibility. I was told to either roll my drivers back one update or to download completely new drivers.. not sure why I'd want to roll them back... but its what I was told. So if anyone does know the answer, I'd like to hear as well. My daughter wants to start playing and she has my old set up basically. (she inherrited my old parts)

Well, I've been able to play on this set up since launch (my ranger is my first character ever)... the only thing I changed in the 6 months (or how ever long it has been since eof beta was out) was (I think) I updated new drivers for my video card. I will go look for new drivers for it now. I hope this is it, 'cause I don't have anywhere near the money needed to completely revamp my pc. (The motherboard is pretty old, so I'd have to build a whole new one)

Well, updating my driver did not do anything, and I have no idea how to rollback my drivers... although I fail to see how fixing one's driver could break a game. You'd think a game as advanced as EQ2 would have safeguards against such things.

I am running a GeForce FX 5200 with the newest driver (Forceware Release 90). As I said before, I have been using this same exact system (while not the best) since launch. I even upgraded my memory prior to my not having enough money forced vacation and it was running awesomely. I even had this exact driver prior to my lay off... I just went to redownload it to see if it would fix the issue.

Hopefully I can get help here, otherwise I may have to head on over to Cybertechhelp.com

No surprise here... but no answer by SOE... Figuring this would happen, I asked a few people in game during one of my freezes (I can still move and talk... but that is it), and they suggested downloading SOE's suggested driver (like 84.something) then defragging followed by a full file scan. I did all three and nothing worked...

So please please please, does anyone have any suggestions that don't involve me buying all new cards? I feel that I should not have to shell out big bucks to fix something that SOE (with 95% certainy) cuased...

Yay for being ignored! I can't play because no one will answer my question! I wasted 15 bucks for this month because some where in a patch, SOE messed something up! Please please PLEASE, will someone PLEASE answer me?!

There are several threads with this type of issue. All came up as a result of GU 35. None have yet to been answered so don't hold your breath. I imagine the devs are still troubleshooting and haven't found the culprit yet, and that they will provide some info once they have it.

I feel your pain

Feels great to pay for something i cannot use!

Figures the only toon on my account that is affected is my main... Why not one of my lowbies??! NOOO has to be my main.

Sony, if you read this, and don't have an answer, a simple, "We are aware there is an issue, and are working as quickly as possible to come up with a resolution." would suffice.

The game has no control over what driver you use or install. To roll it back, right click on "My Computer", then follow "Properties", "Hardware", "Device Manager", "Display Adapters", right click on the appropriate adapter, hit "Properties" and you'll se an option for "Roll Back Driver".

If that doesn't get you the driver you need, try http://www.driverguide.com/

It's someplace to start ...

Did you read the post at all Blood??!

He said he tried to update his drivers already to no avail.

Well Crax, count yourself lucky... you at least have characters you can play. This bug has spread to at least 5 of my seven characters including my main. The only ones I haven't checked are my Defiler and Dirge.

And to Blood: I even went as far as to completely remove my drivers, and go with the one that originally came with the card... no go there.

Thats a cheap fix that should keep you happy. Cmon, just put in a lil OT at work this week, and by next payday your gold. Yes, yes it's "SoEs fault and they should fix it", but whats a new videocard and a lil bit extra work going to cost you? Less stress then the previous posting :p If you get an ATI card you can even get some games for free from Steam, to pass the time or shoot somebody when you can't logon to Norrath
