after reading through the bruiser boards and a few other class boards, i have to ask the question:

how many bruisers are happy with their character?

personally i enjoy being a bruiser. sure i would like perhaps a boost to my DPS or utility, but overall, i dig being a bruiser. i get FD, i can take a few hits before i die (unlike the cloth wearing cannons or even the chain mail wearing stabbers), and i can tank in a pinch. i mostly group and solo if all else fails, and i am not high enough to raid yet. when i group its with PuGs and i am usually the leader ( to ensure i am in the dps/offtank role). at some point durring our group adventure, someone says, " wow, i didn't know bruisers were so good. can i /friends you?"

so all in all, i think bruisers are great for groups and i have no complaints about solo or group play. does anyone else feel like bruisers are fine the way they are for grouping?

I think bruisers are totally fine the way they are for both grouping and solo play. In fact, I reckon there are very few people on the board who would disagree. It's just that we kinda suck at raiding.

today i was grouped in runny eye for a few hours and the group set up changed a few times while i was there. it started out with: warlock, wizard, dirge, fury, bruiser, and gaurdian. the gaurdian was tanking and the wiz and warlock kept pulling aoe agro, thus killing off the warlock a few times and generally [Removed for Content] the gaurdian off. so, the gaurdian left. we replaced him with a swashy and i picked up tanking. when i would pull a group of mobs, i would do the group taunt then i started tab targeting the mobs, hit them with a CA or a taunt and target the next mob. with this system i kept agro on me almost all the time and all the mobs would die with in a second or two of each other.

now i am not saying i am the best tank or anything, or that the gaurdian was slacking, but i changed a few peoples minds about bruisers tanking. sure i got hit a bit harder than the gaurdian, and i made the druid work a bit harder, but not one of us died until i lagged and ran into a room of goblins

just another example of why i love the bruiser class. anyone else have some bruiser stories to share? preferably ones that make you love your class?

I like to steal aggro from the group tank and then tank it myself. It generally pisses the metalheads off, but the groups seem to like killing mobs faster. What are they going to do? Duel you? Cry more? Kick you from the group after you prove you area better group tank? Just make em cry and watch as their helmets get rusty from all of the tears they shed behind it.

I LOVE IT!! i just have an issue with a few things...

1) Monks...they got to go, only room for one brawler class as far as im concerned, and we are vastly superior.

2) Our fluff spells... everything but the kata sucks. This is not an opinion, it IS a fact.

3) Run speed. I wish i could /hidehorse and run around at a fast speed. It just seems more fitting.

4) Monks. Everywhere i go its another monk! Why are there so many of them!?

I love my bruiser. Even on raids, its challenging and fun to find ways to help out the raid. I like to pull mobs that have a massive single-target nuke on the pull. I just shrug it off, bring the mob over to the MT, and then we kill it. I like being able to go all out DPS (with the aggro reduction line), and then if I still pull aggro, I can FD. I love being able to do quests in dangerous places like SoS by training down to the quest mob that is surrounded by baddies, FDing, and then getting my quest updates while FD'd. I completed a LOT of SoS quests like that, where it took forever to get other guildies through it cause we had to clear all the rooms first. I love having decent AAs to choose from so I can choose between a more offensive, defensive, or utility setup. I love beating things down with my bare hands while I search for twin calamaties or other fabled gear. Now that I've seen the bruiser pics on this forum, I'm really looking forward to getting my claymore and the tranquil stone of power so I to can be "[]D [] [/] []D". I enjoy using my knockout combo, masters rage, and the wisdom AA lines to obliterate large groups of mobs. I enjoy the challenge of switching between mobs to keep them off my warlock fiancee, and knowning when to use rescue and drag and when to just let her die (uh oh, good thing she doesn't read the forums!). I enjoy the fact that I'm usually the only leather fighter or maybe one of two, so whenever leather fighter stuff drops I get it automatically. I enjoy popping stone deaf and closed mind and training my group wherever I want to go. I enjoy mentoring down and obliterating stuff for my guildies. I LOVE to teleport to a target, one-shot it with devastation fist, and teleport back, leaving my groupmates staring with envy. I love farming places like gazer isle in TT where I can use knockout combo and my AEs to destroy the greenies and then harvest the ore and roots. I love having a few dozen buttons on my hotbar that I have to click on like a crazed maniac in order to keep up with their fast casting rates. I rolled up a guardian because my guild has no plate tank, and its a little boring getting aggro just by getting beat on, and clicking on my buttons and then waiting forever for them to refresh. Being a good bruiser is fun because it takes a good player to be a good bruiser.

Thoral

Hahah Harley's would be pretty awesome, though terribly out of place. And I wouldn't mention wanting them too much or we'll end up with robo-mounts like in EQ1, those were quite stupid.

I'd also like to chime in and say I love my bruiser. I got a swash up to 70 cause I was jealous of the dps they do. But now that I have both classes at 70 I still like my bruiser more. He is less dps but once fully geared he still has quite respeactable dmg.

Not to mention we ARE tanks. Whats all this offtank crap? I've tanked for Unrest groups before when the plate tank couldn't take the hits. Maybe I was better geared or something but it doesn't mean I couldn't do it. And do it well I did.

Here's my moto: Just because I wear leather pants doesn't mean I can't tank as well as your precious plate tank. It just means I'll do more dps while I'm at it.

I dig my bruiser.

He kicks out good dps (though not what my warlock does)

He solos really well (though not what my coercer does)

He tanks really well (though not what my SK does)

Bruisers aren't the best at anything, but they're good at everything. A bruiser + practically any other class = a good start to a group.

Am I happy with my Bruiser? Yes.

Are there places he needs to be improved? Yes. Increase DPS for raiding and fix avoidance so when MTing the EoF T7 zones the spike damage doesnt make the healers wish I were wearing plate. or I get, sorry man we are running Unrest we really want/need a plate tank...

On the otherhand, FD and a self heal are real nice utilities to have in emergencies. Drag can be a lifesaver.

Of course my happiness is subject to change pending the new changes to AAs. Im still not convinced that taking away double attack and allowing me to wield weapons and get a 6% bump (0.75% a point*8 )to my CA damage will not be a reduction in DPS..will have to see.

All in all though I like my Bruiser and there is a silver linning..whatever they do, at least Im not a monk

Yah I am happy with my bruiser. Of course i woudnt mind a bit more dps or an aoe taunt but thats besides the point. I am not the best gear (i was lucky enough to get a full set of enchanted leather from a guildy) but my spells arnt to good. And i was still able to tank Runnyeye without too many problems. The guardian in my group had waaaayyyy better gear and CAs and i still tanked. I felt very proud of myself Plus not being a monk is always good

I'm happy with my Bruiser.... I just wish SOE would quit giving us the shaft all the time....

Let us spec for a pure DPS or Tank role.... and quit making out best gear from raid zones and contested useable by the [Removed for Content] scouts who ninja the [Removed for Content]!

Oh and get rid of that [Removed for Content] Intercede AA line... seriously.... My Bruiser is still my main character, so that speaks volumes in itself. I love playing my Bruiser, I love the concept.. I love that with the right EoF gear I can solo heroic zones in KoS now (payback is a [Removed for Content] isn't it aviaks!). I love tanking easy raids, or DPSing slightly tougher raids. I just wish I was a viable choice for MT on tough raids, and a viable choice for utility/dps in tough raids. As it stands, anything short of the "easy stuff", I'm asked to bring my Coercer alt. The only time my Brusier gets airtime is if folks aren't needing anything in particular and they want to be nice to me... and they need the body filling the slot (1k-1500 DPS zonewide is better than nothing in that slot).

Yes, I am quite happy with my bruiser. She has been my main since Jan 2004 and is still a blast to play. I did lvl a fury for raiding because my previous guild was sorta anti brawler, but I have since joined another guild and they absolutely love my bruiser. I am not the best tank and I am not the best DPS, but what I lack in game mechanics, I make up for with my quick reaction times and know how.

There is always room to improve and I continue to try and do that =)

Yeah I like my bruiser and really loved him in the lower lvls. Now however it seems that he is having trouble in the 50's holding aggro in groups. I am a barefisted fighter btw (well i guess till the new GU36) and group occasionally with him three or four times a week. My biggest complaint is why I can't hold aggro anymore. I don't think it is the class but my play style and I am for the live of me trying to get this corrected. The only thing I can say is he needs alot of work. My cousin and I duo alot..he is a monk...and I can never hold the aggro. I usually tank since I can heal myself and he will heal me on the back up if needed. Now I can't keep the aggro locked and he turns off his aggro tools he has just to help out, but I doesn't work hehe. However that all being said, I do like my bruiser and I just need to figure out what the heck I am doing wrong.

I love my bruiser to death.

I can tank, off-tank, solo, and dps. (I went str and agi kos lines, and down the ca tree for eof; pretty nice dps. :] )

I have no desire to be a raid tank, and honestly, I don't think bruisers should be one. We already have Berzerkers and Guardians for that, and, afterall..there is only one mt in raids. More classes to fill it would just make more competition for that spot. xP

S'yeah.

Love to the bruisers!

<3 Saber

But I would like to see the class being as capable as some of the other Fighters out there as well. I'd like to eat my cake and have it too... just as if I had started the game as a Zerker instead.
