Hello! I played EQ2 back when it first came out, but I quit after not finding much enjoyment in the game. Now I'm ready to give it a second try, and I've downloaded the game onto my computer. Now I have to wait for the patch to download through the EQ2 Launcher.. and here is the problem. I left the launcher open all night last night and it seems to keep either freezing up, or just going WAY too slow (for instance it's stating i have to wait 257 hours+). I've restarted my comp and the launcher numerous times, but I'm not making any progress at all with the patch download. So.. I can't play the game without this patch, but the patch won't download. I didn't have this problem the first time I played the game so I'm not sure what the problem is, but I was wondering if anyone perhaps knew where I could download the patches elsewhere? Or if anyone has any other ideas about what's going on and how I can fix it. I'd really appreciate any help.. I'd love to start playing the game again, but if I can't get the patches downloaded I guess I'm going to have to give up. =( If you'd like to contact me through email it is <a href="mailto:

I've done that as well, but I lost all my progress it seems. I actually had a small amount of overall progress, but now it's all gone apparently.. atleast the bar is not filled in at all where it used to be. I don't know what to do. This is all very frustrating. If anyone can, please help!

One question first: Are you using Vista? - if so when you run EQ2 you need to run it as an administrator otherwise it wont download everything (Windows security going mental).

Secondly, dont ever believe the estimated time remaining thing, for example a few weeks ago when Neriak was brought in my estimated time was apparently going to be 57 hours, well it took 30-35 mins in total.

Thirdly, firewalls and virus checkers can stop it downloading.

Fourthly, sometimes it does get stuck on some files, just stop and restart the download.

There may be other reasons, but these are good ones to check first

Yes I realize the estimating remain time is not very accurate, but in this case it really was going so incredibly slow that I knew there had to be a problem. I do have a firewall, I will try turning it off but I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable about computer stuff so I hope I can figure it out! Haha.. Maybe that will help. I hope so. Well thanks for the ideas!

I had this problem after i first got the game. Progress would stop, but save what it had downloaded. It would be normal to have to restart eq2 10-20 times for a normal patch.

Then I got some advice from the tech forums about updating my router bios. After I did that, the problem went away, and I have had no further problems, no matter the patch size.
