Most posts i see seem to say that wizards out dps warlocks usually, but why else?

My real question is what is it that a wizard does better than a warlock? I'm trying to decide what to play out of the two.

Thanks

That sums it up in a nutshell quite nicely. Thank you.

How is ae aggro [Removed for Content]? It seems to work in my favor very nicely when tanking with my Berserker.

Nobody cares when the Warlock pulls aggro...except maybe the angry Scouts that have to reposition and most healers that aren't die hard targeting the MT to heal 100% of the time prefer to let Warlocks die to save their power. Few people in groups or raids bat an eye when a Warlock or Wizard die, it's not a raid otherwise. Essentially, the amount of damage a Warlock can do to target's in AE and AOE far outstrips most tanks ability to hold onto the mobs. Paladin's are the premier class to do it, the rest all involve a lot of risk and don't even bother grouping with a Monk or Bruiser if you value your life. It's gotten to the point where even I can peel aggro off any tank that's not one of the select few good raid tanks on my server, and my AE's work at a reduced capacity because my pet brings up the slack. The cool thing though is that I use Warlocks as an early warning device, if they go down, I know it's time to ease up.

i betrayed my char from warlock to wizard because i find the design of wizards more beneficial, at least for my suits

for all content (soloing, grouping, raiding) i think its more useful to kill one mob faster rather than nuking the whole encounter down at the same...a mob with 5% health still deals 100% dmg, so theres no use have them die at the same time

in the end the encounter may die in the same time via both chars, but with lesser dmg incoming on wizards side

also keep in mind that warlock is more about dotting, whereas wizard nukes....this means more hits -> more chances in breaking roots (viewed from soloing side)

i admit though, that playing a warlock GOOD needs alot more skill...so i highly appreciate players who actually dish out the sick dmg a warlock can do ... if they know their char and its limits

I also use my resident warlock as an early warning device.
