Lost Dungeons of Norath was, for me, one of the best additions. I don't want to call it an expansion because it wasn't in the broad sense. I would refer to it in the EQ2 style of Adventure Packs.

It would be great to see something like LDoN get added as an Adventure Pack. They aready have the Dynamic leveling system needed(Splitpaw). And they already have point systems in place(Status). They already have Dymanic Item additions(Adornments).

You could even do it similar to Fallen Dynasty in that you could have a solo/heroic/epic versions even. IT would add tons of content without much work and great replayability.

What is your opinion on this?

SOE has said they don't plan anymore adventure packs, just free content updates (a la Neriak) and actual expansions. I think LDoN might be too much for a free content update, but you never know.

I never played EQ1 however my understanding of the way they did LDoN could be nice for small groups and such and for all play styles.

LDoN was a GREAT expansion for EQ1...I spent a TON of time doing LDoN missions. I'd love to see something similar added to EQ2, although I suppose it would have to be part of a complete expansion since the Adv Packs have gone the way of the Dodo Bird.

I'd pay for an LDoN style Adventure pack. But remember with LDoN each of the five areas had multiple dungeon maps, not just the same one repeated like Fallen Dynasty. It was also random which map you got.

Ahh the joys of cut and paste dungeons and sitting for 20 minutes at the mission giver because the group only wanted to do collect 21 Rujarkian Idols because it was the fastest way to grind points.

I think LDoN is so popular because it gave casual players a mechanic to get back within spitting distance of mid-level raid gear just by grinding the same mission over and over again. It wasn't anything to do with inspiring gameplay or design, it was all about the point grind for loot.

In other words at the time of the interview that plan was for no new Adventure Packs, however he left open the possablity of one so that he would not be called a Liar if someday in the Future they can come up with one that is atleast as good as FD, and won't be deserted for the most part a few months after launch, while at the same time not making the rest of the game look deserted, like Splitpaw did.

I agree that a lot of the praise comes from a place that people won't easily admit. I don't think it was necessarily a bad concept but I have noticed people lie about it a lot when serious LDoN threads hit two or three pages. Mainly about nerfs that never happened. You won't get the Candyland LDoN in EQ2 and here is why. The gear would have to be between RoK legendary and fabled for people to get what I believe is fair to say that most people would expect from EQ1 LDoN. It would come out much later than RoK and if it was like EQ1 it would follow the 1492 ornate/EP mold system. Equipment crafters can't compete with the ability to slum through trivial zones and put together gear that is much better than they can make. Carpenters would love it though. More rare metal on the broker. I would be in favor of a LDoN style expansion just because it would slow down the reappearance of new land they discover every expansion. I really hate to think of meeting the level ninety guy two years from now and him asking me what a Runnyeye is. In the context of the EQ2 forums I think that I am pretty liberal when it comes to the ideas of others. Even to the point where I stick up for things I don't care about in the least just because the opposing side is rude or obnoxious. My point being I am not in large No!! Just because!!! *cackle* crowd this board has. That being said, I really don't want Candyland LDoN. I think people that want LDoN and I am sure many do need to ask themselves something. Do you want the ability to do instances when you want to just like you can do now or do you want to grind the same dungeon over and over for points that uses cutting edge Diablo 1 technology? In my opinion, we need more zones like the Den.

Yes, in the context of the time, I do think it was a good thing. You had a lot of the non-raiding people that were still playing screaming for some love, and LDoN was exactly what EQ1 needed at that time. But it took as much as it gave. It was the final nail in the coffin of going to older dungeons like Highkeep, Guk, Crystal Caverns, or Sol B and trying to find a pick up group. It did greatly congregate players in areas where they could easily find groups though, and had fast travel between the camps to join others as needed.

LDoN did introduce instancing, and even that had it's pluses and minuses. It gave you a zone where you did not have to worry about any train but your own. You didn't have to worry about Kill-Stealing and other obnoxious behavior. But you also became more insular and had less sense of community being tucked away in your own private zone. But EQ2 really already has all the benefits that LDoN brought to the game, aside from the points for gear system.

Thanks for the laugh. I'd forgotten about the tinfoil hat crowd and their claims of phantom drop rate nerfs
