My wife & I are possibly returning to EQ2. We started at release, left for other MMORPG's (names don't need to be mention because they are filled with whiner babies now) and are now comming back to where we feel we had the most fun. We tend to usually play a fighter / support combo. My question is last time we were here there were quite a few more servers than now, in fact we were on Lavastorm but I no longer see it. What is a good server to choose form with decent population and a market that is not obnoxiously out of whack.

It really depends, where u from etc. Anyway everyone is gonna write name of serv he/she is playing - Kithicor is not that bad. Regards.

I agree - Kithicor has been my server since release - i also left for other games, and repeatedly came back to EQ2. Kithicors population seems to be great lately and there is always active groups asking for more and the normal common ooc discussion for entertainment . Im sure others will suggest their server but from my experience you wouldnt be disappointed with Kithicor.

20 of the servers were merged into 10 servers in February 2006. All of the servers have fairly healthy populations. Broker prices have a pretty tight average across the servers as well. The prices are seriously inflated from a year ago.

The decision rests mainly on your play style: normal, RP, PvP or SE. The two regular RP servers, Antonia Bayle and Lucan D'Lere have the highest populations while the PvP-SE server, Vox seems to have the lowest population.

Population is a tenuous thing now. Norrath has grown so much and there are so many private instances that only the cities may seem crowded. The new zones may seem crowded now, but they'll calm down in another month or so. Even then, zones still clone themselves into new instances after hitting their population caps. So, crowding isn't that big a deal.

I like Unrest I transfered from my last server (Mistmore) where I had been for 2 years. I will repeat what I have seen others say. Make your character around the time you will be playing the server select screen will tell you what the server load is at that time.

Permafrost has a HUGE and helpful population - try it and you'll not regret it.

AB is going to be your higher population server but it is RP. Outside of that I have noticed Crushbone showing in the red (heavy) population when the rest of the PVE servers were medium or low. Never had an issue finding groups at any level range lately with my alts. During the day EST and night the population still seems pretty active. Weekends of course spike a good bit.

When you get to the server choice when you make a new character just remember that the list is sorted with the least populated at that time at the top to the most populated at the bottom.

So best choices in the time period that you play would be towards the bottom of the list.

I play on Oasis, currently level 38 and I have seen lots of people in every zone I've leveled in so far.

Just FYI - Lavastorm was merged into Nektolos; no idea how that server is but perhaps you would find old friends there
