Same here. A LOT of people are crashing when zoning/logging or switching char since lu35. Looks like soe doesn't care. With the amount of zoning in this game that's the kind of annoying bug that can make people /quit. Great technical support...

I played all weekend without getting bumped out to character select on zoning, but for some reason last night I got bumped almost every time I zoned. It's not just limited to expansion areas either. I was in Queynos, on the Guk server. I switched to Butcherblock and made a new toon to seek if it was server limited, but it happened on Queen's Colony when I tried to enter the tradeskill zone there. So, it appears to be a global issue. As far as support, they probably just don't know what's causing it yet. Believe me, the response at EQ2 is a lot better than most of the other MMOs I have played (SWG, WoW, DAoC, and especially LotRO). Hopefully they will make some sort of statement about it soon.

<p>Yeah agree --- this is really getting old. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this, though - it means it's not my computer or network. What I wonder is why everyone isn't experiencing the same problem.</p><p>Again, when I get bumped to the character select screen it takes a good 30-40 minutes before I can successfully log a character in again. This has been happening for a week now.</p>

<p>I carsh to Character Select almost every time I die. I will click revive to a location, and a few seconds later - the character select window comes up. If that isn't bad enough, when I hit Play, when it logs me back in, sometimes I will immediately die again. This happen to me 3 times in a row making putting me heavily in the red for experience debt.</p>

<p>If I go from SS to QH, my carpet flies past the zone spot and then just stops in mid air, then 20 seconds later i go to char select.</p>

<p>Well I finally got on the phone with tech support. They suggested I delete all the cache files and any files with my characters names in them. Also, disabled the firewall and uninstalled the virus protection software.....still nothing. I'm going to reinstall and see if that changes anything.</p><p>The tech support guy was as baffled as I was though.</p>

<p>Well I reinstalled the entire game today. </p><p>The problem is still there. </p><p>So it's back to playing PS2. Goodbye, EQ2.</p>

This has been a very pesky problem for some of us on the boards. The hard part is that there can be many different issues causing a character to crash to the character select screen. Sometimes it can be a router issue, others a corrupt file, and if you are like me, then something indeterminable or at least so far. For me, the problem appears to be on my older characters and not my newest character. I have taken many of the steps and more and still have had no success. My current theory is that it is possibly something in my inventory that is causing the crash.

Hmmm...I don't use a router....so it rules that out.... I only have this issue every now and then. I have gone a week without experiencing this problem, but then one night I'll get bumped every single time I zone, on the same zones that gave no problem the night before. It is not limited to any particular zone either, other than I have been playing exclusively in the original EQ2 areas. It could be in Qeynos, Queen's Isle, tradeskill instances, housing, etc. This occurs on differenct characters and different servers (Guk and Butcherblock). If it's a corrupt file than shouldn't it be corrupt every time you zone, not fine for days at a time, screwy for one night, and then fine again?

Yeah sometimes I can zone 3 or 4 times before it crashes, but usually it's only once. Then I've got to wait 40 minutes before I can login to anyone who is in Queynos.
<p>I am having a similar issue:</p><p>My main toon is in QH. I cannot log him in on my main computer. I can log all of my other toons in with no problems. I can log my main in from another computer, if i move him to a zone other then QH i can log him in on my main machine, BUT as soon as i try to move him back into QH... POOF!! Stuck on "Loading UI resources" again!</p><p> Things i have tried to no avail:</p><p>Clear Cache files, delete all files containing my toons name, rollback vid drivers, deleted the UI folder and let patcher recreate, delted all files containing the letters QEY and let patcher install, disbaled firewall, uninstalled EQ2 and deleted all EQ2 related reg entries, reinstalled EQ2 and patched, defragged new install.</p><p>After all that i still am unable to log my main character in. </p><p>This is the same system that i have played EQ2 on since launch with ZERO problems. Nothing on my end has changed, except patches from Sony.</p><p>HELLO SONY ARE YOU OUT THERE!??!</p>

<p>I posted this on another thread but this thread is probably more applicable to my problem.</p><p>Made a THIRD call to tech support yesterday; they told me to delete the cache, logincache, any *.ini files, recent, and any files with the server or character names in it. Did all that and repatched --- took about 30 minutes. Still have the same problem. Then I decided well, let's see what happens when I make a new character. So I made a new toon and presto --- everything works on that toon in Queynos. I zoned about 10-12 times....no problems at all. The toon is on the same server (Venekor) as my main. So I go back to my main and am able to zone 3 times before I get the "Loading UI resources" message and bumped to character select. I go back to the new toon, who is in the exact same location as my main, and it works perfectly. I go to a character I have in Freeport, and she zones with no problem. It's just on 3 toons I have in Queynos that are having problems zoning. So what the hell is the problem here? Why does my new toon work and my main one doesn't? </p><p>Some info: </p><p>1. I am playing from South Korea on American servers (I'm currently working here). This shouldn't make a difference because I've been playing over here for about 3 months now.</p><p>2. Two of my characters (my main and another) are currently doing the exile quest at the same time -- this shouldn't have an effect but it's what I was doing before this all started.</p><p>3. I called my friend up and had him login with my main character on his computer over in the US, and had no problems zoning.</p><p>I'd hate to have to quit this game, especially with all the hours I've put into my characters, but I have no idea how to fix this problem.</p>

This is happening for only 1 character on my wife's account; it happens on any zone, even upon login. However, it does not happen if we log her account in on my computer. That pretty much definitively narrows it down to something going on with the client software on her machine - corrupted files or something similar. <i>Update: </i>I pulled out all of the character-related files for the one with the trouble, tested (it worked fine) and then started moving stuff back in file by file. If I moved her <charname>_uisettings.ini back into place, it locked up on zone-in (or login). Moved it out and moved all of her other files back in (Fetish Nightfall UI, EQ2MAP) and it's still fine. Moved the uisettings.ini back in - kaboom. Looks like it was definitely some sort of corruption in that file.

<p>Well, I'm still having problems with this, and so are a slew of other people that have posted on this forum. Like I said, everything was fine until GU35. I finally took my computer to an internet cafe and hooked it up to the connection there. Well, everything worked perfectly --- I wound up staying and playing there for 4 hours. But it's an annoyance to do this. I'd rather play at home at my own leisure. </p><p>SOE, this is definitely something that you did during this last update. So if it's not fixed by the GU36, then I'm going to have to quit and switch to WoW or Vanguard. I'd rather not do this, considering the amount of time I've put into this game, but waiting 40 minutes everytime I zone is just annoying.</p>

<p>I have no idea about her issue, niether do you really.</p><p>And my issue is NOT clearly on my end. As far as I am concerned this is not a connectivity issue, sometimes I go to zone, and the zone fails I get kicked to char select, i do not lose connectivity, i do not suffer lower ping times during zone, i see 'still' less than 1% network utilitization. This is a GU issue clearly, the xml is borked and fails to load zometimes.</p><p>99.5% is clearly pull out of your . . . . .</p><p>There are many, there many more that do not post etc.</p><p>I hear it on vent all night, people just log back on and go. Until you remove the component (or disable this "feature"<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> EQ2 will continue to do this. Even with port triggering, even with DMZ. This is because SPI happens before any of these things are carried out, so the packet that is considered "bad" gets tossed before it is ever sent to the output end of your device.</p><p> On a side note, I agree whole heartedly that this is an SOE coding issue. There is no reason to use packets that appear to be denial of service attacks (my SPI router actually thought EQ2 servers were attempting to Synflood me). So it *should* be corrected by SOE, since it is a poor c/s infrastructure. However this isn't likely to happen, atleast not soon. </p><p> Basically it boils down to this: Deal with it until SOE addresses it (good luck with this) or fix it on your end. </p>

I'm experiencing this problem as well, it seems to have started within the last few weeks for me. Half the time when I zone, it boots me right back to character select. Has anyone noticed it to be for specific zone-ins? Gfay seems to hate me, as I can't leave the zone without getting kicked out, but I haven't really payed too much attention to where it is that I'm getting kicked from, and if it does it 100% of the time or not.

<p>Yeah, it's still happening. But it's gotten better. I unplugged the modem for 8 hours and that changed my IP address. Now I can zone 4-5 times before it kicks me. It's playable.....but barely.</p><p>Tebos you [Removed for Content], stop trolling. You've offered no help to anyone on this thread so do the world a favor and [Removed for Content]. None of us had this problem before GU35 and now loads of us do. Even though it worked at another location doesn't mean the problem is on my end --- SOE needs to fix this so we can all start playing normally again. It's been over a month and still nothing.</p>

Add my name to the list, I am crashing more than half the time now while zoning in the past few days. It started as a few isolated crashes. It has escalated to game breaking as of tonight.

<p>Thanks strolling wolf, but nothing in that thread addresses this issue, nor does it in any way provide information on how to solve this issue. It would be very nice if SOE could solve the issue, as it is getting very annoying.</p><p>Any answer that begins with turn off your firewall isn't particularly useful, since firewall is basic internet security, even some peoples only security.</p><p>What WOULD BE HELPFUL in that thread, is what ports need to be made available to EQ2 so that we can verify proper access is set up. IF as it would appear SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) is the culprit, logs to that effect would be useful from EQ2. Not to mention, fixing whatever it is in code that you added a few updates ago to NOT appear as an attack on the firewall.</p>

Some of my characters have the same issue. It seems to be limited to moving while zoning. Click-through zones are easier to get through with the kick to char-select only happening if I move or are moving after I've clicked to zone. But since the majority of zones are pass-through zones you have to be moving to get through them and as such they always kick me to char-select.

I thought about starting a new thread on this (though none of my 3 computers have this problem) but decided to reuse this one. I think in order to assist the DEV team to track down a potential CTD/CTCS issue that you folks are having they will need more information. I'm not recommending just yet a full list of system info. Instead: 1. What zone? 2. How long in zone before this occurred? 3. What action were you performing when this occurred? 4. Is it repeatable? 5. If CTD, what message did you receive?
