View Full Version : Odd Request-Design a Tattoo? You could get money.
Ok guys I am looking for someone extremely artistically talented to design a tattoo for me. Little background. I'm 17 years old and im graduating this year, in a few days to be exact. And for my grad present im getting a tattoo. I dont want to get there and pick a random design I think is cool, then be kicking myself in the butt when im 35. Here are some things to keep in mind: Hobbies: Drumming Modeling Me: im a virgin never done drugs or drank before im metro I LOVE oriental art and mythology/history etc etc i just LOVE it my best friend is asian read an indepth about me at www.myspace.com/ev_angelic some things I wanted in my tattoo, and/or possibly more tattoos in the future. the phrase "memento mori" this means "remember, you must die" to me this means make everyday your best day and never waste the time you have because you could die tomorrow. a dragon. An oriental dragon. I love the looks on these especially on skin. this isnt required but if you could somehow play it in it would be [Removed for Content] amazing Drums. this is one of my biggest hobbies, my life dream is to become a drummer, and i have had an obsession and love for music and percussion since i was a very young kid mom/dad. Without them id be nowhere near the amazing person i am today, i love my life and i owe it to my parents my favorite band. blink 182. they have been my favorite band for 7+ years and what really got me into my love of music and the drums God. im a christian, and I want a semi-subtle way to show that, be even better if it can be tied in with everything else. Everquest. I played EQ1 and EQ2 most of my adolescent life since I was 12 years old. some EQ picture or reference would be a good tattoo. im drug free, and i plan to stay that way the rest of my life. even something as creative font saying "drug free" could be an option now, spots i would like it going into modeling i dont want it to be too dire or too big or too detailed, but still a healthy balance left or right arm, or left or right forearm/sleeve would be best. back is good too. You don't have to incorporate everything that I listed into one tattoo. But if anyone watches Miami ink, that is generally how I want it to go down. If anyone makes a design I end up using for my tattoo or tattoo[s], I will paypal them $25.
Wiou wrote:
God. im a christian, and I want a semi-subtle way to show that, be even better if it can be tied in with everything else.
I would say based on that phrase alone don't get a tattoo. Leviticus 19:28 28 " 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. There are several folks who interpret that verse differently. It seems pretty cut and dry to me. Regardless of how someone interprets it you have to ask yourself a few questions: 1. Have your parents given you the "ok" to get a tattoo?
Ephesians 6:1-2 1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise 2. In what way does getting a Tattoo Glorify God? 1 Corinthians 10:31 1So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 3. What are your motives for wanting a tattoo? Are you seeking to glorify God or draw attention to yourself? 1 Timothy 2:9 9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,

While this specific verse speaks about women's modesty, men are subject to the same requirements. The meaning of modesty is not drawing attention to yourself. Tattoos most definitely draw attention. In this sense, tattoos are not modest.

4. Will my tattoo cause someone who is weak in the faith to stumble? Just remember that your body, as well as your souls, has been redeemed and belong to God. Although 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 does not directly apply to tattoos or body piercings, it should give you conviction about what you should and should not do: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. That verse along should have a significant effect on what you decide. The purpose of this post isn't to place judgment on anyone, rather you have a tattoo or not. After all, who am I to judge you? However, it is good idea to not look at it as a Christian thing, or even a religious thing, but rather a personal thing. What does your conviction tell you?

Congratulations!!

AHA I use to watch Miami Ink all the time and they have some amazing Art pieces.. I could see how that would inspire the idea of getting a Tattoo...

I did understand your life style and the modeling thing but what are you kind of Tattoo are you looking into getting? You want a show off tattoo? or one that means something to you?

I would gather the things you like and piece them together first!

Example:

My Hero's: Grandma(R.I.P!), Parents and my younger sibling..

Forget-me-not's to remind me of my Hero's and those whom got me where I am..

My dreams: To become a Artist of sorts and or Dancer..

2 Dancing dragons - One Emerald green and one Ruby Red! To remind me even the silliest of sketches can go along ways and even walking can become a dance of art..

Little things that mean alot: Family crest, Roses, Lillies, Friendship, Love and music! (I could make this list go on for days so we'll shorten it a bit)

2 Big Velvet roses, 2 big white lillies, a family crest and a little love..

Now Piece them together!

Main piece would be Two Dancing Dragons, One Rubyred and one Emeraldgreen! I would then Have my Family crest on the dragons chests to show the sibling part and my family.. Add Forget-me-not's, Lillies, Roses and tiny Music notes!

It's rather hard to explain but hopefully you get the idea sorry I would have sketched it out and shown you but due to no scanner at the moment you will just have to vision it in your noodle

But DO toy with what you might get and keep your possibilities open because some Ink Artists are not willing to get into great detail like dragon scales and music notes because the time spent to do it is too much and you do need to think about how you place things because Lines don't stay smooth no matter how much you pay for the tattoo or the artist to do it!

I know your getting into Modeling so be very very careful in what you want to permently place on your body if your not sure about what you want or where I would recommand trying out a Henna tattoo or two.. They only last 4 or so weeks and aren't harmful to your skin!

If ya would like to contact me and chit chat you can message me here or Myspace (www.myspace.com/emeraldgraon5)

Thank you for your replies guys. Vahaus I have already went down that path. I've prayed with God and I'm tight with the man upstairs. Iduckie, I kind of already listed all the stuff that could be pieced together, just kinda hoping someone can do something with it.

I know some "Head Prophets" have tattoos, example: Todd Bentley, he was doing a seminar a few days ago, thats probably where you saw him at, he has allot of tattoos, but he was also performing miracles, and said that he has been a Christian most of his life and his tattoos as fairly recent, and it's between him and God. You must ask yourself this: Why do I want a tattoo? is it to show off? look cool? attract girls? show my dedication to my faith? have a tattoo to show off my pride? or do I want a tattoo to show off my faith? frankly, It's not what you have on, it's whats in your heart, thats what truly saves people. Asking on the forums for advice already shows that your "subconscious" is in denial, if God truly wanted you to have a tattoo, he would have given you a design.

I understand that tattoos, while they are getting more main-stream, are still concidered counter-culture be some people. If you are those people who object to the idea of tattoos... move along, this just isn't your thread. Please don't use the fact that he admitted to being a Christan as a way to harass the guy. His motives are between him and God. Yes you are correct, the Bible does contain verses that say don't get tattoos. It also tells us:
"Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard." (Leviticus 19:27)
"...and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you." (Leviticus 11:7) If you are like most Americans, I'll bet you have eaten a pork-chop or gotten a shave and hair-cut in your day, and probably quite a few other things that are 'illegal' in Leviticus. Seems to me this is time to selectively quote... "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? (NASB ©1995) That being said, I will urge to to think about not getting a tattoo for another reason. There is much less health risk then there use to be, but there is still a risk. I know this because every time I donate blood for the Red Cross, I am asked if I have had a tattoo. Maybe you are comfortable with the risks, and maybe your family is aw well...if so it is your choice, but maybe you will consider my 'arm art' first... tiny scars on the insides of my elbows from 22 yrs of donating blood. Either way /hugs & Gratz on graduating & living a good life.
