can't send tells in ingame chat channels

on my account i can't respond to or send tells  with any of my characters  to guld chat or private tells. can type in the box but hit enter to send them and nothing happens. any clues on how to correct this?

<p>Right-click on the Chat tab. Choose Chat Options. Go through the check boxes in the various categories. It may be that one or more of the essential ones are not checked.  </p>
