I am looking for some advice. I recently respecced to Max out the EOF melee skills, I also have 100% melee crits. I am constantly reading at how people are getting 700+ DPS while solo. Although I can match that I cannot do so consistently. Some of the items I equip when trying to Max DPS are:

+ 10DPS adornment on Neck item

Blackscale Maul + 20% haste adornment

Planar Orb of the Wanderer (Procs Furious Onslaught)

Signet from Light and darkness ( Procs Divine Light)

Pristine Imbued Acrylia band of Strength ( + STR and + DPS Proc)

Dogdog at 14% Group haste

Marr Cloak (plus DPS and STR proc)

Tunic of Shadowed Songs ( Only worn when solo)

I have a specific armour set up that gives my +600 Strength when self buffed( Can't remember exact number, at work ATM). During raids if I am very lucky with item procs I can just hit into the 1K DPS range, but I have to be REALLY lucky with procs otherwise I am usually averaging anywhere from 400- 700. Are other Mystics getting 700 plus DPS consistently on most encounters? I am also constantly spamming Heroic Ops and Slothful Spirit.

Is there an ideal group make up to maximize Mystic DPS if so what group makeup is ideal and buffs are most beneficial place on us?

Is there an order of setting off our new CA's that is most effective? I usually cast the Melee versions of our spells in the following order Glacial Flames, Plague, Chilling Strike, Circle of Ancients

Should I remove the haste adorn from my Maul and go for a damage one instead?

Also I know there are better weapons out there but I have been EXTREMELY unlucky since I started raiding about 5 months ago.

Thanks for any input

There is always an "ideal" group makeup for maximizing any classes dps... problem is seeing that group or those buffs for most the non-dps classes You have to remember in a raid dps while is a nice addition still isn't our primary contribution. If you are asking a realistic dps "ideal" group for the mystics "common" spot in a raid vs. an all out group centered around boosting only the mystics dps, things change a bit.

As for the weapon aug... hard call to be honest. If you could get 20% haste or so off somewhere else that would be more ideal and slap a damage proc on your maul. That sucker will proc often its attack rate is so slow.

As for casting order I would probably toss out circle first (more so vs. a pack of mobs) so that it gets its refresh timer going. I havent sat down and figured out the best order for ca's I havent worried about that too much at this time.

Other than that, if you're lucky enough to run in the mt grp, bug the coercer for a dps buff (they SHOULD have an extra slot in a standard mt grp unless you have a melee-specced warden there and they've already pestered the coercer for it ;P) and that's about all you'd need for that particular group (mt group was always my favorite for dpsing as a melee-spec warden and it shouldn't really be any different for a mystic imo). If you're not mt grp, try to get put into a group with a dirge (huge boost to your melee dmg from them and since they're group buffs, there's no issues with you being a healer and "stealing" buffs from a true dps class) and ask any wizzys/warlocks, inqs, and conjs (and even assassins though you may not have much luck with them as theirs is a single-target only deal) that you group with for their proc buffs. Illus do have a haste buff that can be helpful, but good luck getting it since they also have a hostile-spell proc that uses concentration and can be cast cross-raid so it's highly unlikely they'll have any extra slots to spare for you between buffing the casters AND any melees they're grouped with. Also, for your weapon setup (and idk how well this would work for a mystic since you have different weapon options than I do), you could try getting a buckler of the howler and a solid 1hd instead of running with a 2hd since that buckler is a REALLY nice melee buckler (has a 25 dps proc that'll proc off of any attack so if you can get hold of a really good 1hd to go with it, I'm pretty sure it can equal or better the dps you get from a 2hd). I don't know that for sure though, since I AM a warden and don't really pay much attention to spears or even hammers/clubs as I prefer a 1hs, but it does work very well for me paired up with the serrated sword of retribution (2.4s delay 75ish DR 1hs with an inherent dmg proc + a fire proc adorn on it) so I'd say aim for something comparable to that sword if you want to try this route.

Definately get the Amulet of the Sworn from the Deathtoll access.

Best way to up your DPS is to try and get a dirge in your group. DPS mod + chimes is fun.

My top was a little over 1400 a few times, but since moving on to EoF stuff I pretty much heal first DPS later since I'm the MT shaman

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Unfortunately I had already done the Deathtoll access before I decided to go for Melee . But I picked up some +25 haste gloves in Mistmooore Castle a couple of days ago. I am thinking about removing the Haste adorn and going for a damage proc. I should have mentioned that I am not a MT Shaman in our guild so on raid trash I get a lot of time to experiment with increasing my DPS. our top DPSers in guild have pretty much maxxed out their damage potential so I am trying to bump up my own DPS to help clear raid trash and also the challenge in Emerald Halls. ( I hardly have to heal on trash unless there is a bad pull or something goes wrong. I am also going to go for the DPS earring in the orb of tunare line. I will also look at getting myself a Buckler of the Howler. I have seen it drop many times and I never thought about bidding on it until today! Great advice guys thanks

Start out with the circle. It has the longest timer and if you start with it you have a chance to use it a 2nd time. Then continue with Chilling Strike,Glacial and Plague. I use Cilling first to have it back up after Plague. If it s a non-critical encounter i start of with the debuff of posion/disease/cold/heat. If its more critical i first debuff dps and stam. Did you pick Ancestry to proc 3% more with your chest piece ?
