View Full Version : Removal of Level Locking Would KILL PvP

People like to level lock because it is a more casual style, they don't need to grind to 70 to gear up and have fun. I would be playing PvP a lot less if I wasn't in T2. My Dirge is lvl 53 and I haven't PvP'd with him in a year. I PvP in T2 all the time, there is always PvP going on and I can log in and play for an hour if I want. I don't have to spend forever running though all the zones looking for PvP, I just head out to CL. Remove level locking and remove the casual player, which SOE cannot afford to do.

Maybe. I don't really think so, but maybe. I think the solution is just to balance the [Removed for Content] game. Nerf Rogues/Preds/Druids, fix retardo stuff in T7 (resists, broken mit curve, etc), maybe cap titles by level or something and bingo, there's no more reason to stay locked in T2 beyond personal preference. Some people like the low-level competition and twinking, and that's cool. The impression I'm getting, though, is alot of people stay in T2 for other reasons: -The game's more balanced there. -It's easiest to earn a title there (imho the current title system ruins PvP tbh, but...). -Everyone else PvPs there, more targets. -It's easymode to kill non-twinked newbs (and honestly there will always be a population that locks just for this reason, but I certainly don't think it's a majority by any stretch of the imagination).

As someone who - as early as the begining of this week - was very anti-locking, I've come to see how it is serving the pvp system well. Casual players who want to enjoy pvp are getting what they want in T2-T3. Is it unfortunate that some of us newbs to the server are getting caught in the cross-fire...sure. However, this has also - at least in my case - forced me to become a better, more cautious player. Not only that, but in the next few days when I hit 20, I'm slapping that level lock on for a bit to build up my AA's, grind for plat for better gear, and am going to be looking for a bit of payback for all of you lucious Q's who ganked me on my way up the ladder. Yeah, it's petty, but I'm sure it's gonna be alot of fun! Am I going to be ganking any greenies? No. They're not the reason I'm going to stay in that tier...I'm staying in that tier for PvP and payback...and the tokens/reputation won't suck either.

So, as many people have said in the past - wise and noble Splinter being one of them - let everyone play the game they pay for. There are plenty of ways to xp up through the ganking tiers to escape the gank squads of the Commonlands and Antonica - if you don't want to be there, progress out. As I've said earlier, what originally was [Removed for Content] me off has made me a better PvPer in the long run...you have to have a thick skin to play on a PvP server. Unfortunately, if you don't have that thick skin, I'd reccommend playing on Vox, which has a lower population base and a much easier time to PvE on a PvP server, and staying away from Naggy. No one on Naggy is going to cut you any slack, as I've found out the hard way, when you exit the cities - and TRUST me...you'll be a much better player because of it.

End of sermon...please resume your wanton killing. /hug

actually what they could do is what vanguard did. You dont get any xp from killing another player just infamy. It solves about 98% of the populaces problems that are hiding behind that bs excuse of questing lol

well ya now that it really matters because of the changes and implements they did to the aa's. Still even after you get say 70 aa points at 22 are you going to unlock? Heh ya I doubt. Its only a valid excuse now because quests are worth doing.

lol good for you but the guild recruitment page says different of others. I mean its just obvious when your recruitment advertisement wants only t2 or t3 level lockers only with locking as a requirement.

I didn't think we had one.

Is locking required in my guild? I wouldn't say that. We have guys who are leveling w/o locking. Our pvp groups will lock and grind aa/quest get faction and stick together as a team though.

What guild did you think i was a part of?

lol im not talking about your guild whatever it is. Im talking about every t2 t3 and theres even some t4 locked guilds. Its actually a requirement to get in lol. Course it doesn't matter to be cause all the pvp is highest in those levels anyway

You said the questing thing was garbage, i told you my experience is otherwise. Then you mention something about recuiting pages for guilds..

what are you trying to say?

We have several teams of people who are friends, know each other, quest and pvp together. Sometimes people group with more than one team, but also, for the most part, we are very close knit. I think the original poster of that got a bit confused when he wrote that to Raike.

I honestly don't have the time to devote to t7 that I used to -- my husband gets upset when I raid, and PvP is very scattered and hard to find, plus both the people I used to roll with quit so I don't have a static group there anyway. With t2/t3 pvp, I log on, I know pvp will be in one of three zones, and I get to go gank the gankers. A good example is the other day I was grouped with a 20, then invited a 22 friend to join us. So while I'm sitting there with the 20, a 25 and 26 attack us (scout + druid). We live long enough for our friend to join us and then proceed to fight AND win even though we're green and gray to them. They obviously were there solely for ganking, so maybe in some ways we're protecting the non-twinks -- the grays and greens they try to gank are not always the free honor they expect.
