View Full Version : Level 50 newbie templar - do AAs help healing?

Hey All,

I have a level 50 templar I am thinking about taking out of retirement. However I last played him *before* DoF, KoS and EoF came out! Now I am deciding whether I should just re-roll him and work up to 50 again, or just bring him out of retirement as is.

He currently has no AAs, crap gear, and probably App spells. This tempts me to re-roll, but then it would take me months to get to 50.

All I care about is his healing ability - I want to be the best healer I can. I have cash on my alts to buy him the best healing spells and gear available. I guess the real question is: could the missing AAs (i.e. those I have missed out on from the pre-level 50 quests) make a big difference to his healing ability?

I know I could go out questing to make them up, but again it would take sooo long...

Brag @ AB

Increased casting speed down the intelligence line is always nice to have.

I just rolled a templar after playing a bard to 46 before any of the expansions so I'm a noob as well. I am going with the stamina tree for the crit heals. I'd love to hear if this was a good decision from templars who know better

Crits are awsome, can max ur meele crit to 100% in that line, and heals up to.. think its 25 or something, with a good 2h you'll be able to do some dmg as well without it costing you to much pwr You also might wanna have a look at int line, the faster casting speed there is an absolute must for our slow heals, and the final ability there have saved my groups lots of times. Also a great DPS boost if you have mages in ur group. Cleric AA tree (eq2ref.com)

Templars are pretty lucky as far as aa's go. Their better "healing" aa's are in the same lines as their damage aa's. As the poster above me mentioned, Cast time, Divine Recovery, and Spell crits are all in the INT line. Melee crits, heal crits, and hammer smite are all in the STA line.

My suggestion would be to just remake him, as depressing as that can be. To give you an example why, my Templar is 32 with 39 aa's; starting at 50 with 0 aa's would be really annoying.
