Hello everyone, new player here. I have a lvl 22 Conj on Unrest, so I kind of have the feel for the game so far. I want to give myself some variety, and I miss myself some pvp(came from DAoC) so I wanted to make a character on a PVP server. I was kind of looking at either a Shadowknight or Bruiser. Of these two, which would probably stand his own better? I'll probably die a lot since I have no guild, no pvp experience with EQ2, first pvp character, so I want to at least put up some kind of fight.

You won't be able to put up any kind of fight until you harvest for a few days and gather up enough rares to have Mastercrafted armor and Adept 3s. Alternatively you could just level to the 20s and avoid PvP til then, because you WILL lose every fight in the 10-19 bracket (aka T2) without, at bare minimum, Mastercrafted and Adept 3s. To actually answer your question, both are OK solo. Bruisers probably a little more than SKs, and I say that only because the SK PvP playstyle is sort of counter-intuitive (it's alot more defensive than you'd think). Bruisers/SKs are probably the second best PvPers behind Scouts/Druids.

I would recommend a Swashbuckler or Ranger over SK or Bruiser. The scouts get track so they can see their enemies comming and get out of the way.

You don't even need mastercrafted, do all the quests in DL Woods and you get some nice Treasured. I never bought Mastercrafted and just used the gear that I got questing, or off the broker....and not for a plat. Yes, I am a mage so I am not as gear dependant, but there is a LOT of good treasured gear out there. There is no reason in you would lose every fight if you are not in MC gear. Upgrade spells, and do quests with good rewards first. There is a lot of cheap newb gear flooding the market from Neriak, you can get some decent stuff on the broker cheap, or try to kill some of the named in the zones for gear too. You can't go in T2 blind and dumb, but cmon people it isn't THAT hard. Get in a guild and don't go out unless you are in a group if you are that scared. edit - To the OP, scouts have track and it will make your life easier, go Brig if you are on the evil side. SK's and Bruisers are good classes to though.

Just what the game needs, another Scout.

Melee? Rouge! But what about the shadow.. rouge, well theres the predit.. rouge, there the brawl.. rouge! But the warden can be speced in... rouge. Well the ranger can... be killed by the rouge. Sry but when it comes to melee rouges are it. They have the stuns, the interrupts the utility to help themselves the aa's to re posit attacks and double attacks and attack when you block and attack automatically. They have there duel wielding knifes each with its own imbued proc along with each carrying the chance for that master crafted poison to hit you for another hundred or more. No one will ever be more of a melee class because they just cant be except maybe and I mean maybe a brawler if the rouges were to get nerfed this way that way upward downward and so many other places it would be indiscreet to say them here and even then it would be a close call, Rouges are dps in ever aspect that is given to them. Brawlers are melee but lack in the main dps because of being a type of side tank instead of an offensive fighter like a rouge is.

I guess I should have mentioned that I've never been a fan of stealther classes (sorry, I just have hate for them from DAoC haha). I don't want to be a FOTM class either that is overpowered and will win against everything, so it's good to know that neither of these fall in that category. Thanks for all of the info though everyone. It's very much appreciated.

well ok then we can rule some out. Fotm includes every scout besides a bard but stealthing covers them to. Furies, and wardens, and maybe a sk. Other than that the rest of the classes are there. And that would leave a brawler for melee. But I gotta warn you while you may hate stealth's and fotm they are about the only ones that can stop runners, brawlers just chase you for a few miles before giving out.

Bruiser is the better soloer of those two, but I would choose an assassin Not biased or anything. Zerkers are also extremely fun to play, never tried one in pvp tho.

Please guys, if he is going slowly to 70, don't try and convince him about spending lots and lots of plat on twinking in T2. It's a waste.

I won't twink. Never was a fan of it in any game. I went ahead and made a Shadowknight. Desrow on Nagafan.

lol if your going to naggy and not twinking god help you. Its not that you need it to win more over you need to twink to survive the onslaught of the attacks of every player thats a twink on there. Which is about 97% of the populance that has alts with there main twinks who supply there alt twinks.

Assassins, in theory they are the best DPS class.

And oh, yah, to the OP, may I suggest looking into making a battle cleric specced inquisitor? Nasty buggers .
