Hmm lets see 6 months eh? Well EoF and our AAs put us back on top in terms of DPS. Our EoF AAs were really nice compared to our assassin brethren. Our CAs do not use arrows anymore...rejoice! Player made arrows are now the [Removed for Content]. Rip now tears the last shot arrow out of the mob. If it was a player made arrow, you get that arrow back Bows are still incredibly rare to come by. Although the Raincaller is a nice fabled bow that is an HQ. Most rangers are using this now until you upgrade to a raid bow. oh and, welcome back!

I donno that I would agree that bows are incredibly rare still. If you can kill Wuoshi and get lucky on the recipe drop, being able to kick out 5 rigid scale bows makes them not so rare. There is also Star Darkened off Mayong. Now granted you have to be able to kill Wuoshi, or Mayong, but its nothing like trying to get Sarnak and a T8 ammo bow was.

OK on my server that is 2 guilds. That would make <1% of the population with access to that bow. And then when it shows up on the broker for 1000p maybe <2%. What is your definition of rare?

How many times did you have to kill Taranix for Bazkul? How many times did you have to kill the Drake for Ichorstrand? How many times did you have to kill Venekor for Sarnak? Do you realize that to THIS day, my guild has not seen Bazkul? In all the time we were clearing KoS, we saw Ichorstrand and Sarnak once! Thats it, thats all. And lucky for me, I got both.

And THAT is what I consider rare. On the other hand, you can get a decent bow off of Sarik the Fang. Hes got 2 iirc. Windshaped and Natures bow of the Stalker. Not "THE" Best bows in the game, but certainly decent if you dont have Sarnak and arent killing Mayong and Wuoshi. Simply put, the best gear in the game should come off the hardest mobs in the game. In this case, they do, not being able to reach/kill a mob, doesnt make the gear "rare". Killing it over and over and over again and still not seeing an item makes it rare.

The top end bows all drop from bosses. Where the other scout class stuff does. The Rapier of Darkness drops off sub-bosses in MMIS and is every bit as good as GDoH.

As a ranger to get a decent bow we have to kill expansion bosses. At least Sarik partially fixed the problem.

any nonraidable bows ? guess raincaller is the best i can obtain... or close atleast... raiding is not for me i think, no time nor desire to do it. Even the raincaller required to kill a x2 mob (iirc), but is it still doable by 1 grp? ++Xan

Yep, can be 1-grouped; he's a total chump from what i remember. Besides Raincaller, there's Torn Ligament from Unrest, but from the numbers I've seen using them both, Raincaller is still better. Not entirely sure where that extra ~20 DR went to. Don't get me wrong, it's a great bow - has great stats and a deaggro proc. I raid quite a bit and was actually using Ghostly Bow of Bylze from early Claymore line. Huge dmg spread on that and I definitely saw some of my best parses with that bow. It's Treasured though I think it's only because of the comparably low stats and DR. I'd go for that as an option; you should be kickin' out some pretty meaty numbers with it.
