View Full Version : What do you think of Armor Stands?

With all the sets of armor available, and I'm sure its going to grow, when we get to level 80 we won't want to wear our old stuff likely, but want to keep a momento of our hard work.

How about some sort of armor stand for our sets to set up in our rooms much like you would see from a real life midieval castle?

This suggestion comes up frequently and it gets my vote every time.

Beyond displaying suits of armor we outgrow, it would be nice if my armorer could display suits of what he can make so customers can see what they look like (and I still know plenty of people that care about how the armor looks as much as they do about the stats). Further, if the customers could inspect the stand like a PC then they could see the stats and requirements for each piece, saving me having to point them to a web resource or having to type them out manually from my recipe book.

I'd love it.

I've always felt that displaying the complete set of class armour from the level 20's quests would be nice and characterful. Somewhat defining, ones house having a set of armour tied to our class.

And if that could be done, then sure, why not a mannequin to slap a suit of crafted armour. We could enjoy it for the simple graphic effect something like that could enhance our houses with. Armourers/Tailors could display their wares.

I don't obsess about my house, but I don't sell furniture quest rewards either. I use my house a living diary of my characters accomplishment. It would be nice for them to be able to rest a retired suit of armour on a stand of somekind. I'd sure feel weird about just selling off the Strongbears suit of armour when the expansion comes and I upgrade. Getting it all was more of a feat than any HQ or L&L quest, and I'd like to mark that in the living diary that is Mynach's house.

I can see how it'd take a lot of resources to design a house placeable item graphic for all armor in the game, but maybe it'd be possible to have it work like an npc you can place in your home and can drag and drop gear to much like a person to person trade....

Of course, you should also have the option to place unattuned armor on the dummy without attuning it."

The beauty of making it a static NPC is that it would require very little art department work since the graphics for worn armor are all already in place. The only new graphics required in fact would be the amor stand NPC itself and the wood texture to apply to it.

Yup this does come up frequently and I'll post my backing again =).

The char model dummy would be ideal, kind of like the dummies that were modded in Morrowwind =).

I'm a serious packrat and would love to be able to stick my old armors on a dummy in my home. (I even still have my ORIGINAL lvl 20 AQ armor, complete with the spear for completing the quest to become a mystic).
