Necro pets

Could someone please tell me how to rename a pet and when or what level it can be done?

You can even have different names for different pets. Make a macro.  The first line should be a "command": /pet name [name].  The second line should be the pet summoning spell. You can't name swarm pets.  You also cannot name certain fluff pets like the mechanical duck. But.. my gnome has an imp named Ember and a gargoyle named Cinder (except when she summons the book in which case it's a Playgnome which she only reads for the articles, of course). If you're a summoner, in raids or other places where you're seeking to parse damage, it helps to have your pet named for you so that you get the credit for your pet's damage as well as your own more easily.
