Ok, first off...I read some of the sticky suggestions for monks, but it appears that many of the links (like the FAQ) are broken. Now, my monk just got to level 54 and I'd like to upgrade its armor/weapons. Here are my questions: 1. I read about the Gi armor set, but couldn't find if there's even a chance to get that gear at level 50s, or should I just spend my gold on Mastercrafted gear? 2. Should I waste my gold on weapons or just use fists? Now, if weapons are recommended; which are more suited for a dps monk - knuckles, 2H weapons or dual wield? 3. So far I've read that the STR AA line is one way to increase DPS. Any other suggestions to increase DPS as much as possible? Thanks for any suggestions.

Generally speaking, Mastercrafted is the best buy on armor through T6. (The same is NOT true in T7 -- 60+, the legendary stuff that drops in the Kingdom of Sky and EoF instances is FAR better than rare crafted.) There are a couple of gis you can get in T6 - one that drops in Clefts and another the Drops in Pillars of Flame, off one of the Ashen Disciple names. Both are fluff only - you would not want to wear them to adventure in.

It is generally accepted that, unless you can get fabled weapons, the Str AA line provides the best brawler DPS (with the added benefit of saving you hard-earned plat).

Thanks for the reply. On the STR AA line, is it also common to go 4-4-4-8 ?

That is the 3rd number. Eight points in the third rank gives you 96% chance of double attacking, thus making bare fists, which is a "single-handed wep" essentially a dual wield wep.
