I realize this should probably go into the Zones or Quest forums, but my main comment is about fun gameplay, so here it is! Yesterday I completed the quest "The 999 Year Old Port," which at first I thought would be just another treasure hunt for achievement experience. But then I clicked on Sparrow Cogcarrier's boat and got unexpectedly zoned into an instance, on his ship in very choppy waters. Two thoughtful puzzles and a clickfest later I was in an incredibly entertaining solo instance to rescue Admiral Grimgadget, who had locked himself in a cell with the ship's captain in order to save themselves from a prison riot. It was quite the blast mowing down eight enemies at a time (if not that many it sure seemed that way) as a little warden, and then defeating the heroics at the end. So, a big thanks to the developers for an unexpected romp and a very fun time! It's these little flourishes, which show up throughout, that make me really enjoy this game. -Cayce (Permafrost) (can't change my persona since I'm still unguilded)

Aye, that was my first "gasp" moment and still remembering it after long time. It was an awesome one, it is more exciting if you find it accidently.

Its a real shame that hardly anyone seems to know about this great little quest line

I'm so new to this that I generally figure everyone else already knows all these things . I found the quest giver in Antonica (far north east of the eastern map on the beach), but I think there's the same quest in Commonlands, and they zone to the same place. The final boss in the zone is a 24 Heroic (no arrows), and I (a warden) was able to defeat that encounter at level 29; it would've been a really close call at level 28 for me, but I'm only a mediocre player, I think. The fellow's name in Antonica is Sparrow Cogcarrier; I'm not quite sure of the quest giver in the Commonlands. -Cayce

The quest giver in CL is by the docks in CL and his name is very similar to the one in Antonica (cant really check at the moment - I'm at work).

Yes, the pirate quests are fun! Here's the story the Smarmy Sprocket and the gnome pirates: Shore Leave Those quests were kind of the live event introducing Desert of Flames. You get the Bootstrutter's Trail Guide to Ro from a guy in the prison on the island. Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

My husband and I hated it. We were just turning in some quests along the way to somewhere else, then got "hi-jacked" onto the boat, with no way to get off. We solved the puzzles (calculator in hand, bleh) then ended up on pirate island, again with no apparent way to get out. First 3 yellow mobs, then creamed by 8 whites.

So we revive, hoping to be on our way to where we were going.

Nope, back on the Smarmy Sprocket, again with no apparent way off. The puzzle quests were no longer active, so we couldn't even get to the pirate island, even if that's what we wanted to do. Which it wasn't, we just wanted out of there.

So we ported home, which is on a completely different continent from where we were headed.

Could have been fun, if we had been high enough level. As it was, it pretty much stunk being stuck like that and even dying didn't get us out. Very annoying, since I've been trying to get him to play EQII instead of LOTRO. He logged out in disgust and I suspect it will be awhile before I can get him to try EQ2 again, so I'll probably be joining him in LOTRO for awhile.

I had such a nice time on this quest, and it was one of those times that even though you knew it'd probably been in the game forever, you felt as though it was a little event, or adventure just for you =) I never did finish the instance. I should go back and see how those nasty mobs like me at level 70!

That'll take you back to shore. It's not something that jumps out at you, you have to mouse over things and notice that it glows.

You say to Heron Cogcarrier,"Ok." You have entered Aboard the Smarmy Sprocket. How is this getting "hi-jacked" onto the Smarmy Sproket? Just for future reference-- If you ever want to get out of ANY INSTANCE in the entire game, just camp and come back. The instance doesn't exist after you camp out so when you come back, you're popped out of the instance. Hope this helps in the future. Also, if you have questions in the game just ask on any of the level channels. People can usually answer any question that you have. Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere
