I know this kind of post has been posted many times but I cannot resist it: I played EQ when it first came out, up to Level 59 with one of my chars, for about 2 and a half years. I had never experienced gaming like it. Some of you guys will remember running thru' B/Block for the boat to Freeport the first time? I will never forget that boat trip and the moment Freeport came into view... or trading in the tunnel between the Commonlands and Ro, long before Luclin ever came? How about Crushbone and the Shiny Brass Shield? and killing Frost Giants in the Great Divide and camping Haddon for the Fish Ring. We had no sense in those days.... camping solo for hours at a a time. I played all the expansions also. Then, at level 59, it became so hard to play without grouping and my work schedules made it awkward to group.). Anyway... I then played, (among other MMORPGs), EQ2 up to Lev.20 with 3 chars to help me in the crafting but, truth to tell the heavy exp. hits when I died, plus the steep crafting kinda chilled my enthusiasm. (I don't have much time to group a lot because of my work schedules so soloing a lot might have had something to do with it). So I went to WOW for solace... Hit lev.60 easily, with uber gear etc., with a couple of chars and lev 40s and 30s with alts etc.... and got the T shirt over and over and over, ad nauseum.... Then it just ground to a halt, even with the B. Crusade expansion. Everything got too easy, too repetitious, all glitz but no real depth (to my mind anyway). and it seemed there was a sudden influx of 10 year olds wanting to duel all the time and hittin' on everybody for gold.

Soooo.... I quit WOW a couple months ago and you can imagine my excitement when I learned of the EOF expansion bringing to life all the old EQ zones...... please forgive me a moment... I am starting to cry in my beer. It's been so long.... I never realized how much of a love match it was. (Now I'm REALLY weeping...aaaoooowwww!!!). I ordered EOF and I collect it tomorrow (Mon.) morning. I spent the whole weekend reading up in the forums and can't wait. So thank you, guys and gals, for reading thru' my homage to nostalgia, and thank you, Sony, for giving me another chance to live in Faydwer and Kelethin and Kaladim, etc. I guess I'm just a bit romantic but I never thought I would ever see those old stomping grounds again.
