a little confused about runic mark.....

<p>it says it wards aganist 4 points of physical damage.  Does that mean that if a mob hits me for 10 damage it wards against 4?  Or does it only count for hits that are under 4?</p>

It mitigates 4hp of damage for melee hits - so if the mob tries to hit you for 10 the ward will absorb 4 (after the character's mitigation is taken into account).  It refreshes every 4-5 seconds, so if you are hit twice within that time the second one may hit for the full 10.
