edgy black textures / random colored environment

Hi, I just got EQ2 and when I started playing I noticed that the terrain on the ground was pure black and edgy.  Also, the environment and objects in the environment look like blotches of brightly colored pinks, yellows, blues, and greens were thrown on them.  I tried adjusting my settings down to minimal but that didnt do anything.  it just made the black edgy situation occur more.  could somebody help me out?
