Ok so i am starting this thread because of all the bickering amongst people about my class needs this and my class needs that or we are gimped or broken. So befor i even start please PLEASE i beg of you with all my skills (which are about 100 in begging last i recalled..... Peeps who played eq1 would get it). So please dont post that your class needs a fix in any particular area because there are other threads for that. This one is for looking on the posative side. The fact that you play this class for so long must mean you like SOMETHING about it. And that something is what i wanna get out of you. Tell me why you like your class you play and their Strengths NOT weaknesses. So i shall start: Classes (lvl 70 illy and 70 paladin other scatered alts no real care about them to much tho). Illusionist: I love this class. I enjoy the crowd controling aspects of it and feel its quite powerful. I loved the illusions in EQ1 and i enjoy to play a class that is fundimentally one that plays on illusions. Gives a mysterious quality to them. The fact that we can summon a pet that looks exactly like us makes me happy. I always get a chuckle when people think that my pet is me when they target it (w/o reading under its name). I do enjoy the raw power of mezing and the fact that we are able to lock down 4 mobs permenantly (w/o any effort) so far the most i had was 6 mobs mezed. This was crazy fun to switch targets and make sure that they arnt doing a thing. Theoretically i can mez 7+ mobs but i have yet to even tho i have a little goal to make it there one day. I am a big soloer and this class just blows me away on the complexity of soloing. I am able to do a 14+ spell combo in just a bit over 20 seconds almost 1 spell a second blazing fast. Fear one day it will give me carpeltonal (spelling wrong i know). All in all its a fast fun class that i quite enjoy playing. Paladin: I like being the good guy. Helping damsels in distress. Slaying dragons. The idolized knight of fairy tales. It just gets me all happy. In EQ1 i had all my armor shiny silver as i rode my hose. Twas the knight in shining armor. I am trying my darndest to get shining armor again just to be all noble and gallent. I enjoy the healing and rezing aspect of our class. I like being able to help my fellow citizen stay alive while helping the healers out on the healing. The smiting of evil is also very fun aspect for my RP ways. Wrath line weee. Smite evil Wee. I also like how they made crusader lines able to work on a steed (agi line) really drives home that we are mounted heros (or villens if yah are a sk hehe). I also enjoy how they gave a focus on paladins shield usage with the block AA in EoF. The fact we are one of the most versatile classes also makes this class enjoyable because not every paladin is alike. So many ways we can custamize our class to do whatever we want to do. Love it Well those are my classes would enjoy hearing why you play your classes and what you like about them.

OK, I just HAVE to sound off here about the necro.

We bascially have it all, but for starters I love being the embodyment of evil itself, to coin a phrase, killing is my buisness, and buisness is good =).

Now for more specifics.

Aggro control is the summoners bread and butter, keep the mob on your pet and burn it down, and with our dot's this is easy as it gets. Now in terms of dps, there are very few mobs that dont go into the yellow within just a few ticks.

Taking life and giving life, it's what we do (can anyone say god complex?*grin*)

Then when it all goes bad, and everything is circling the drain, I just play dead, and all those baddies go on their merry way, and I have the awesome power to bring my fallen friends back to life!

I could probably go on for another hour or so about why I love my necro, but I'll let some others elaborate further (We are that awesome, so I'm sure they'll be plenty)

Inquisitor: I play an Inquisitor because no one else seems to want to In reality I'm not too keen on healing, but as inquis I can solo fairly well as well for a healer, and I do like the style of plate armour. Bruiser: Bruisers I play because I like the style of fighting they have, not so much the refined meditative state of learnign the ancient teachings of the code... but rather kick [Removed for Content] and leave them in the gutter. It seems so primal Necromancer: I love undead pets and damage, and the ability to solo is very nice when you can't find a group or just want to chil out. Brigand: Weekend binger got this char pretty high, I'm not sure really why I even made her 0_o Assassin: I like to stab things and do a lot of damage. Berserker: I'm a masochist? Shadowknight: I've always had a sk in EQ, so why not. I suppose the most fun I get out of the game is from the Inquisitor, Necro and Bruiser at the moment, only because they are the highest level. If I got my other chars up to 70, then I would probably have as much fun as I have on my other chars because in all honestly just playing the characters is pretty much the same for all classes that I've played... The only way you really make them different is if you RP, which unfortunatly has suffered a death of deaths on most servers Edit: I carnt spel

Dirge: Every RPG I have ever played, tabletop or online, bard is my first choice. While dirges aren't the jack-of-all trades bards usually get portrayed as, I've found it's great fun. Two attacks that heal myself! HO's recharge in half the time as other classes! An arrow attack that roots! I can hit something, root it, toss a debuff with a damage proc on the end at it, set off an HO, use my two ranged attacks that progress and finish the HO, and by the time the thing can move it's as much as half-down on life. I can solo, I can group for great dps, I've got four awesome target-encounter debuffs and an in-combat power regen buff, and with a pair of Jboots on I can outrun anything but the guild lvl 60 horses. Give me a little time to get my wis aa line done, and I'll outrun them too. ^_^ Coercer: Crowd control! Oh, how I love crowd control! And mana regen! Let the adds, come, I'm ready for them! Situations where groups I've been in with my dirge have had to evac, my coercer just keeps mezzing, stunning, anything he can, and we survive. Mana Flow is a godsend in a rough fight, and the target-encounter mez is my absolute favorite spell of all time. And since they made it so mezzed critters are immune to aoe attacks unless the specific target of them, I've been getting along with the tanks and warlocks much better. ^_^ Necro: Started one of these not too long ago. So, so very in love. Soloing or duoing? Summon my tank pet and let him take aggro. Working with an actual tank, especially in a group? Summon that lumbering zombie thing and nuke from a distance. rc420 mentioned god complex - so absolutely true. RP wise, my necro is in permanent exile because he refuses to bow to any of these lesser beings. And I'm enough of a troublemaker that I like making the tanks jump when we're fighting undead, they hit the 'zone' of fightfightfight, and spend 10-20 seconds trying to figure out why they can't attack these two skeletons! Oh, and all of them - invis/sneak. I recently decided to try a templar, and I've gotten her killed more than once by trying to sneak past a group, completely forgetting that on this char, that hotkey soothes - which works fine fo the target, but all his friends still see me just fine...

As said to a friend in discussion one day... Brigand: While it's always fun to sneak around unsuspectingly before stabbin ya in the back, what I really enjoy is, after said backstab, having you turn around where I poke ya in the eye & kick ya in the hoo-hah!

I play an Inquisitor because for 5 years I have done nothing but tank, and because I wanted the evil healer in plate. Clerics should be able to wear plate and stride into battle casting evil (or good) spells, not sit in back wearing flimsy robes and only using a staff like in some games I wont mention.

The Inquisitor is swift in justice and all their spells are geared toward hatred and pain. I love that. MUHAHAHAHAHA

I play a swash because I love the versatility of all the spells and how they're just spaced out. It allows you to hop here and there stabbing the hell out of things for fun all day long. I play a berserker because when things are bad I taunt and stand in front of mob after mob with my big [Removed for Content] fabled axe swinging high until I they drop or I die. Warden: eh im not paying attention and its usually tv time lol. Conjurer: depending on what I want to do he can do it. And when the fights get bad and the ranger runs into a named while backing up, I save the wipe by a sacrifice and the hydro pet ftw to give that healer those to few precious seconds to get healing. Wizard: lol I actually started a wiz way back before lu 13 because every other class didn't have dmg. Ah the good old days when 1 nuke would pull aggro away from everyone lol

Well, I don't really have a favorite. I have 3 classes I play. Templar, Necro, and a Mystic. I still don't know which one I like the most.

Bruiser: I like being able to solo when I don't have time for a group. I like the added challenge you get by playing a Bruiser. Punching things is always fun, and we get nice combat animations. I actually think we are very balanced, and that the rest of EQ2 needs to sort it's crap out, I don't want it to be any easier than it already is. O.o PS: Check out ma new sig!!!

Ranger

Inside: Stealth, especially exploring dangerous dungeons, edging round the see-stealth mobs or trying to find a route that gets me as deep as possible without dying.

Outside: Active fighting, always moving around. Personally don't like kiting and don't intend to learn but what i do like is the tactical in and out, stun and snare, back off to use arrows and not get hit for a while, then back into melee, always moving. Big fun.

Shadowknight; Love it to death just because I can pull whole rooms to make healers crap their pants, and live through it with some well placed AE stuns and lifetaps.

Coercer; Oh man, I fell in love with this the first time I charmed one of the lionesses in CL and had it kill its cub. Most evil class there is, bar none.

i like playing my warlock alot. pure nuker does tons of damage in a short time and can desimate wole groups. also like the the challenge to play with a little finesse and strategy to avoid getting killed. the class is a little tricky to play but can solo well. plus on rp side i like to think of warlocks being a chaotic nuetral those of you that play dnd knows whats i mean now if soe wopuld put in that type of allignment the true fun can begin.

also enjoy my ranger which is a class i play in most rpgs i play i like the sneaking around for that perfect ambush spot tohit your target with your arrow or like most assasins jumb our and stab them in the back plus there tracking ability to spot if a certian target is up or not

I'll be only the 3rd person who replies saying he loves his Ranger. After reading the post about the Necromancer I believe that Ranger's are the equivalent to the Necromancer, only the challenging version, solo-wise anyway (so if you're reading this and play a Necromancer, and you're getting offended, please don't). When your soloing a yellow ^^^ you can only make one or two mistakes with a Ranger. You don't have a (real) pet to back you up, and you're constantly on the move (sometimes into other aggro mobs if you're not careful). An encounter is always on the edge of a knife in this respect. Success heavily relies on the proccing of stuns whether it's from the Raincaller or poison (or whatever other kind of gear you can get that stuns). Another thing I like is how we can move faster if we DON'T have a mount. Well I can anyway. I pumped up my Pathfinding (46%) aa to the max and repurchased my JBoots (10%). I just love it when I beat people off the boats up the ramp in Butcherblock and they're on a carpet or a horse and I fly right by them. But the main thing I love is being able to go invis and explore most of a zone I wouldn't otherwise be able to see and harvesting disco aa. I started a tank alt and the two things I can't stand are moving really slow and not having invis...hate that.

My choice as a guardian in eq2 is somewhat based on my experiences playing a very "heroic" paladin in eq1, I died alot, being the last one who ran for zone if we wouldn't make a fight so the rest of my group would be all right and the like. (so the roleplay aspect did sort of reflect on my playstyle funnily enough)
For eq2 I know I wanted to still play a heavy geared character, but I wanted to be the maintank, which I couldn't be with my paladin in e q1 (well had I stayed a year I could have, but oh well) so looked at the warrior classes and saw that zerker was the DPS heavy and Guardian the Defense heavy class, so I choose to be the mo st defensive class in the game so I could MT raids, which I now do, I don't have any roleplay traits for my playstyle though, inste ad I try to be as effective as I can be.

Shadowknight: because we're better than anyone who is not a shadowknight and they know it. The pure evil the class represents is unmatched. Their ability to pull whole rooms of baddies and live to tell it is probably the most fun thing about the class and the puzzled look of group members when they ask "how come that mob lost half of his health in 1 shot?" Conjurer: nothing makes me giggle like a shower of stones on my enemies, with some icy winds on top while my pet burns them to oblivion. I feel like I'm controlling the elements and that's all that is needed to be said. (P.S.: group shard spell, please!)

Berserker: Cause there's nothing like being a top tank AND (with the right AA spec) being able to make the pure DPS classes cry. Plus they're extremely durable with two antideath and one helluva mean health regen tick. When a zerker dies, he just keeps on fighting!

I'll give it a shot :

Conjuror : I love playing my Conjuror because he is so versatile. If I'm only on for a few minutes and don't have time for a group, I have a self contained duo. I can grind through solo content fast and safe. If I'm in a group, I can play a variety of roles. Pure DPS with mage pet or scout pet (I'm in the situtational pet camp), Temporary Tank with Earth pet (only when looking for a new tank, as he's never a permanent solution to a full tank) or somewhere in between. Our AA's are very interesting and offer a wide variety of playstyles without having to suffer too much from taking one specific build over another. And mostly, I like being able to push my conjuror to the limits to see what I can actually handle. I have seen some really well played Conjurors do amazing things and thought "WOW, I have to try that myself". Our Conjuror community is extremely helpful, and advice is shared freely and openly. By far, my Conjuror is my favorite.

Bruiser : I play my bruiser to supplement my transmuter, purely as a farming character. I have tried a variety of characters, but my bruiser is my best pure farmer for t2-t3 content. He can clear instances quickly and safely. He can get around with little trouble and can survive in some really overwhelming circumstances. With one night of patrolling the hotspots for named and instances, I can gather enough transmutables for a solid crafting session. The best part is, I have never had to pay a copper for transmutable items, so I have saved myself quite bit of plat for using him. I always play him with the "Play Nice "policy in effect and never take named mobs away from groups. There are plenty of places to take him to farm, without ruining others playtime. The downside is that I never sell his loot, so I've probably lost a lot of potential money from broker sales. That and the fact that I often give stuff away to new players, to help them get a jumpstart. I can't tell you how many Lonetusk Robes or Mystery Meat Moccasins I've given away in the past few months. I love helping new players like that and it keeps my friends list full of happy people who don't think I'm a farming @#$hole. I havent taken him beyond t3 yet, but overall, I do like playing him for the purpose I created him for.

I'm still in my first year of EQ2, and still trying out classes. But it seems that I am ending up with the same two mains I had in EQ1. Druid (warden) and enchanter (illusionist). I love classes that benefit more from good play.

Necromancer: The flexibility, and the knowledge that I can lay it out when the s*** really hits the fan. I can solo through quest mobs better than just about any other class (my summoner brothers are basically the same), are top-tier DPS, but can offer a few unique things to groups as well, such as a touch of healing (just a touch), rezzing, and wipe recovery via FD. I can even ghetto-CC when really needed (fear+root). Flexible, yet very very powerful. Templar: This gives me the feeling of being able to "take care" of a group. A nurturing feeling having the fate of the group quite literally in your hands. Sure others can screw it up beyond my ability to fix it, but most of the time the group lives or dies by how well I do my job, and that gives great job satisfaction when things go smoothly. And as for the Templar specifically, I can actually take a hit or two without over-panicking, rather than being smacked through my leather as some others are. And I'll admit, when you double-hit with your Blackscale Maul for 1400 each (2800 total), those numbers look rather nice, though it's nothing compared to my Necro. Paladin: From the irony standpoint, I really like going around with my Inky Paladin, but I really do get the God-complex when playing them. They can just take SO MUCH abuse, and live through it. And with a good amends target, you can keep agro really REALLY well. An alt, so I don't have the full max level experience, but pretty fun. Not as much DPS as I'd always like, but I really do feel like I can survive anything that's thrown at me. Warlock: BOOM! And being a fae, gliding is just fun. Pure fun, no intelligent complexity about it, but just fun. But the boom, at least at low levels, is impressive. At these levels, though it's mischievous, I know I can take agro from any tank that isn't a pally with amends on me. That's just cool to know. Also taking out a group of heroics basically single-handedly in under 10 seconds is something my necro would have a tough time with (though I'm sure that'll fade as levels increase). Coercer: Challenge, but ultimate control. With the tools at hand, you can play MORE than 5 different ways with a coercer, and all of them have different upsides and downsides. At the end of the day, I find this character the most challenging to play, but I can literally turn a wipe around into a victory. Amazing potential, but you HAVE to work for it.

Well, I play the Dirge. I had originally played the Swash because I liked the corsair motif, but I find Vox isn't the most suitable server for me. So, I tried out the Dirge (after realizing the Assassin wasn't for me). It's rough, and I'm still low level, but it's kinda cool being the underdog. You don't see many, and that's a quality I like. I'm anxious for higher levels when people are excited to see I've joined their group 'cause they know things just got a helluva lot easier.

I've played so many different classes it's really not even funny. My favorite is my first. From my sig you've probably already figured it out. While there are a lot of things to enjoy about playing a dirge, I think if I started out as any class I could enjoy it. Each class has something in particular that is envied by others. Just for fun I think I'll list one spell/combat art from each class that I think is especially nice and/or unique:

Guardian: Tower of Stone

Berserker: Open Wounds

Paladin: Amends

Shadowknight: Deathmarch

Monk: Tsunami

Bruiser: Knockout Combination

Warden: Protecting Grove

Fury: Call of Storms

Templar: Sanctuary

Inquisitor: Fanatacism

Mystic: Bolster

Defiler: Forced Cannibalize

Wizard: Ice Nova

Warlock: Apocalypse

Illusionist: Illusory Allies

Coercer: Domination

Necromancer: Undead Tide

Conjuror: Plane Shift

Troubador: Jester's Cap

Dirge: Cacophony of Blades

Assassin: Decapitate

Ranger: Rain of Arrows

Swashbuckler: Hurricane

Brigand: Dispatch

Well lets see, why I play what I play.

Use to play: Paladin - Love the thought of being a holy tank, aggro was my friend, and I was good at it. Then the nerf came and turned me into a temp, so I don't play him any more.

Play: Necro - I am pure evil, I feast on the living, so I can control them when they are dead. God complex? Muahhahha, who me, never!

Brig - Sneak up behind ya, grab ya around the neck, and drive my dagger thourgh your back. If that doesn't kill you, as you turn around to fight, I spin you back around, knock you down to your knees. And then watch you fall to the floor dead. Love knocking the mobs to their knees, everytime I see it, it is like, "Sit the F*ck down!"

I picked wizy.. to harness the power of the elements to put out massive distruction... What i learned... well lets say i am disapointed in what a wiz is in soe.

Pally... the good guy aspect... and the idea to heal. But then again ther not the only ones who can heal.

Wha i like... is the flexablity of the fury... they can gear and spec to become very flexable.

I've always played Druids. From my tabletop D&D days to when I actually picked up Eq1. My husband is my "pocket tank" so when he decided to be a Zerker, I thought that being a Warden would compliment him well with his abilities. I wouldn't trade this class for anything. I love my Warden.

My alts, I play, are just distractions when I need to take a break from being a healer.

I like playing with my monk when I was harvesting nodes and killing solo stuff. Beside it has nice animations to begin with and look cool on some outfits.

With my zerker, I like to play it because I like to own, total ownage in duo with a fury on any heroic stuff (got fury & zerker with my and wife's accounts so we change our roles)

With my Fury, nothing is like healing top value and burst dps at same.

Dirge, for some challange.

Mystic, I love her when in groups and how capable she can be time to time.

Since we are always duo with wife, we are mostly either fighter or priest to begin with. So Dirge is for fun , it is pain to solo with them tho.

So refreshing to see folks who know how ... to ... play ... a ... game.

I just can't get away from my SK though I do like playing my berserker. I just wish my SK could live in Qeynos for some real roleplay fun.

I love my Swash because she's SOOO fast! Her skills cast in split seconds. I can drop a MOB before my AOE has time to refresh. Which reminds me of something else I love about my Swash. Swathe!!!!! (no, that's not Swash with a lisp). I absolutely get a the most juvenille thrill out of spinning around and knocking down everything in my path and watching the DPS soar. Even better, grabbing a group in a low level zone, hitting swathe and watching the entire group just die at my feet. Life just doesn't get much better than that. Although such things as smuggle and evac, make it even better. Add feign death in the AA line and exploring is a breeze.

She's cute too.

I also enjoy my Necro and Conj because I love the freedom of having a guardian pet with me at all times. I can wander around and harvest, pick up shinies and leave it to my pet to take care of any nasties that wander by. I especially love the dance between pet healing, and life tap on my necro. It's entertaining. I think between them I like the Necro best because I like the idea of being really evil and keeping myself and pet alive is a bit more of a dance.

I also just started a newbie Coercer (Arasai) and I kinda think I might like this class a lot. It's already fun and I'm not even out of the newbie zone yet. Again it seems to be a bit of a dance and I kind of like that.

Defiler - because honestly where else can I play an evil soul stealing priest who just wades around with a protective shield that bounces attacks off him while he casts from behind and whacks things with his huge staff baseball bat style? (I have some AA specialisation combined with an Ancient Mithril Staff which basically means I truly am one tough mutha with it). Add to that a salivating deranged wolf at his side, the fact he can also heal and command all sorts of dehabilating spells on his enemies... Ahh honestly its so good to be bad. And being a defiler we are a best kept secret so don't tell anyone how much I enjoy playing him

Guardian - Because it allows me to use both the face value of my name (Alexander Luthor (Lex Luthor)), and the actual meaning of my name (Alexander -- "Protector of man&quot.

Brigand - I used to play this a while back (before EOF and the changes to amazing reflexes) while raiding, I could seriously have my debuffs constantly recasting and go AFK in raids and still do my job. Then they changed amazing reflexes and I actually had to do something :-O

Wizard - No reason to play a wizard really -- they look like they're wearing a persian rug and are lame. (can you tell I didn't enjoy my time as a wizard?)
